Good Monday, everybody. Here’s hoping this update of the blog finds each of you doing just fine and dandy. Halloween is just a few days away and things continue to look pretty darn ugly as a big storm system gets ready to dish out high winds and heavy rain for trick-or-treaters.
I would imagine we may see some cities moving trick-or-treat hours up a night to be on the safe side, especially in the central and west.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:
- A cold front works into the region and slows down on Halloween.
- That allows for an area of low pressure to develop along the boundary and roll right on top of us.
- Rounds of heavy rain producing showers and thunderstorms rumble across the state.
- Heavy rains of 1″-4″ are likely for Wednesday and Thursday, with local amounts up to 6″ possible.
- Flooding and flash flooding issues may develop during this time.
- High winds will be a big player, especially Wednesday night and Thursday. Gusts may exceed 50mph.
- Along and east of the track of the low, a few strong to severe storms are possible. The best chance of that may wind up across the central and east.
Here’s a look at the area I’m highlighting for the best chance for high water issues…
The European Model continues to show excessive rains that would cause flooding issues…
The new GFS is showing a similar area of concern…
Here’s the evolution of that system on the GFS…
The Canadian is similar, but has a stronger second system Friday night and Saturday…
I will hook you up with updates later today so check back. Make it a good one and take care.
Other than my Dodgers getting curbstomped, life is good.
I do believe David Price could of single handly pitched lights out baseball in every game in the World Series if that was allowed and had zero effect on his rubber pitching arm. Red Sox’s bats and pitching was just nasty completely overwhelmed Dave Roberts and company.
I didn’t watch the series this year for some unknown reason. But my team won. What happened to the St. Louis Cardinals ? This is the team my Dad and I followed when I was growing up.
Sorry for the Dodger loss, Mr. Hamlin, but I still thought it was a fantastic series…it was epic 🙂 The Dodgers kept coming back and coming back and making it a true nail-biter every time.
I completely disagree with that statement besides game 3 going 18 innings other than that the Red Sox dominated that World Series. The only nail-biter was game 3.
Yeah. I like the bottom of the ninth, two outs, and bases loaded types of games. David Price has an unbelievable arm. Yankees need pitchers really bad and I heard rumor of Kershaw. I say, hells no!
As usual, Ohio Valley storms tend to miss far SE KY. We may be the only area to have a dry Halloween evening☺
Looks like we are going back to that same old weather pattern we had this past summer.
What happened to your genius prediction of 80 degree blowtorch weather into late October?
Grain of salt alert : The Old Farmers Almanac’s prediction for the Fall and Winter 2019 is for a cold and snowy Canada and a warm and wet Ohio Valley. So far they have been correct ( got to give them that) I think our Autumn weather will continue well into Winter and maybe a couple of heavy wet surprise snowstorms for some in the Ohio Valley in late February and maybe early March ? As the song goes ” You can’t Always get what You want “
To make matters worse for winter lovers, we have another hurricane that has formed in the central Atlantic named Hurricane Oscar. The oceans are really warm and I still believe that this action is causing our seasons to be the way they are. The forces on Earth and in our atmosphere will eventually balance out the global temperature, always has and always will.
Yes, but Schroeder, has there always been THIS much carbon and pollutants trapped in the stratosphere so close to the earth’s surface? That’s the part that concerns me, that makes me think maybe there’s been some man-made change to the climate. It certainly could still be reversible; also, nature tends to balance out, as you said, no matter what we throw out it. I still don’t think that means we should continue on the way we are just willy-nilly like we can go on this way and push our luck. Just my two cents 🙂
Yes, I agree to what you had to say about pollutants such as carbon dioxide. But plants on Earth use up CO 2 and release oxygen. This is what confuses me on that theory. Are there less plants on Earth at this time ? I don’t know. I know years ago that the Rain Forest in South America was largely eliminated. Then I learned something else that the gas Methane was absorbing carbon dioxide in the Arctic. This is an old topic to push climate change and this argument will continue for generations to come.
Everyone here who lives in the Ohio Valley has experience very few winters where the snow starts early in November and is maintained through March. The only winter I can remember that came even close was 1969-70. The winter of 1976-77 and 1977-78 started in late December and there was a lot of cold and snow through March. I feel at this time that this weather event will never repeat again. Some scientist with all there theories think that the Earth’s tilt was closer to the Sun when those winters occurred. I don’t know. But the fact is that the Ohio Valley does not have that many severe winters. I can only remember three in my 67 years on Earth. It is a debate that will go on for eternity.
Correction on the above word Their and not there. My grammar is poor. It’s been a long time since school.
Wow that’s a sharp cutoff to the heavy rain from central to southeastern Ky.. Almost like a snow map.
Just seems like each winter has it’s own personality. Never know what your going to get.
That temperature may be recorded tomorrow.
For Bryan
Has it already been 6 years? Superstorm Sandy crashes ashore along New Jersey coast, causing tens of billions of dollars in damage. Videos of wreckage still fresh in my mind.
