Severe Weather Tracker

Good Tuesday afternoon. Severe thunderstorms will continue to increase across central and eastern Kentucky this evening and we have a couple of watches already out. A TORNADO WATCH has been issued for nothern Kentucky and a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is out for much of the central and eastern parts of the state. Both watches go until 10pm.

Here’s a look at both watches and the latest warnings…

I will have updates as needed and will be sending out warnings and rapid updates via twitter. Enjoy your afternoon and take care.

Is this likely to be extended further east later tonight or will EKY be out of the woods for this particular watch?

    • Aaron says:

Doesn’t look like much on radar right now….or satellite, either. CAPE values have dropped dramatically over a good part of the watch area in the past 3 hours. Not sure whether the watch we have out now will be necessary or not. There’s probably something I’m missing again. :)

they just put boyd, carter, and greenup counties under tornado watch until 1AM

    • Aaron says:

The thunderstorm watch has all but been canceled except for the northern tier of counties it originally had. Maybe later…will just sit here in the background and see what unfolds. Looks like most dynamics are north.

We had thunder, lightening, heavy rain and hail in Perry County a while ago.
