Good Friday, folks. A cold rain is blowing across the state and will be followed by a true winter pattern for the next week and change. This setup will deliver VERY cold temps and the potential for the first flakes and even the first accumulating snow. Winter weather lovers have got to be loving this bonus action coming in the middle of November. 🙂
Let us begin with the rainy weather we’re seeing out there today. Rain is rolling across the state with a rumble of thunder possible in the southeast…
That rain will taper off in the afternoon, but some sprinkles and gusty winds remain. Temps tumble from northwest to southeast into the evening as a weak system drops in from the northwest. That will spark a few snow flurries or an out and out snow shower into early Saturday morning.
Lows by Saturday drop deep into the 20s as gusty winds continue to crank. Those wind chills by Saturday morning could be pretty ugly for this time of year…
Sunny skies take over for the rest of the day, but temps stay in the 30s for highs. Those gusty winds will make it feel like the 20s.
Sunday looks pretty calm with readings in the 20s to start and 40s to end. Clouds will begin to filter back in and it may start to feel like winter weather is on the way. That because… It may very well be. The next system has been on our radar for a long time and it continues to look fairly stout for so early in the season.
Low pressure develops across the deep south then runs northeast, somewhere between the Appalachian Mountains and the east coast. The exact track of that low is the main determining factor on how much, if any, snow you get outside your house.
The models continue to have a favorable look for, at least, some light accumulating snow for some…

Temps behind that will be incredibly cold for this time of year and may give us a sub-freezing high temp day.
I will have updates later today so check back. Make it a good one and take care.
From prior page to ColdRain….I think parts of the Carolinas had November snow and then from TX to SC had a band of very hefty accumulation in early December as a few spots in AL and GA hit a foot last year!
Yes, I am stoked for snow potential myself. Like I said prior, even if we don’t achieve a good ground cover, November flakes alone don’t happen ever year☺
I’ll take the sunshine a gentle breeze and temps in the lower 80’s.
Just like last year, the 2nd Saturday of November is going to be really cold. Old Man Winter must plan this for deer hunters. Brrrrr.

Last measurable snow (>=0.1″) for any November day at Louisville and Lexington was in 2014.
Thanks Chris. I guess I will. be dragging out the heavy winter duds this weekend to be ready for the cold and (hopefully) snow. Terry is right, even getting some good flakes this early in the year is good! It kind of gets me into gear for the holidays. B the way, my daughter who lives in the Cleveland area has snow today. She is NOT happy. She does not like snow that much. Cant figure that one out. When she was little she loved it as much as the rest of us.j Oh well. Have a great Friday everyone. Looking forward to the next update Chris. I know if there continues to be a decent potential for snow, you will SURELY do an update for us yapping pups ! 😉
