Good Saturday and welcome to Kentucky Derby Day. This is a special time of year as all eyes are on the bluegrass state for the annual run for the roses. Everyone wants some nice weather, but mother nature casts the deciding vote on all that. It looks like she is in a rather touchy mood today as will have some sun and some storms for us.

Scattered boomers will be floating around the state today amidst periods of sun and clouds. It will be very muggy with readings topping out in the low and mid 80s for most areas. Don’t forget to hit the radar tab at the top of the page to track the action.

Sunday looks a little dryer with temps back in the 80s and only a small threat for a shower or thunderstorm.

That will really change-up for Monday and Tuesday as an area of low pressure works across the Ohio Valley. This will cause a big increase in showers and thunderstorms across the area. Take a look at the action on the GFS…

That looks like a setup that can lead to another round or two of severe storms with torrential rains. That’s something to keep an eye on as we roll through the weekend.

Much cooler air works in behind the storms. Readings by Wednesday and Thursday of next week may not get out of the 60s for a few areas.

Have a great Kentucky Derby Day and take care.
