Good evening, folks. Our winter storm is bringing snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain to the bluegrass state. This mess is causing some issues across parts of the region. The freezing rain is really adding up across parts of central Kentucky and is the focus of the next several hours.

Some very quick thoughts before I get to your tracking tools:

  • Freezing rain and sleet are combining forces to create hazardous conditions in the areas I have been outlining. The area will change to mainly rain later tonight and early Friday.
  • Southeastern and far southern Kentucky is mainly dealing with rain.
  • Western Kentucky is getting snow and a light mix. Several inches of wet snow may accumulate in the far west.
  • The snow from the west slowly works eastward on Thursday and reaches eastern Kentucky by late afternoon into the evening. This may bring light accumulations to much of central and eastern parts of the state.
