Good Thursday and Happy Thanksgiving. We have a terrific weather day taking shape across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Enjoy this nice weather because things go the other way in a hurry as we head into the traditional weekend. Two systems are on the way, with the second one bringing winter back to town.

Highs today are in the low and mid 40s north and east to the mid 50s west and south. Skies are mainly sunny with a few clouds in the northeast.

Clouds and winds increase for holiday shoppers on Friday as we wait on our next rain maker. Ahead of this system, highs will reach the 50s. Rain rolls in from west to east very quickly on Friday evening and I can’t even rule out a rumble of thunder. This action continues into Friday night into Saturday. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible, giving some areas a half to one inch of rain…

The gusty showers move away Saturday afternoon and evening, but that drying trend won’t last too long as the next system zips in as early as Sunday afternoon and evening.

This storm system really wraps up and will crank out some 40mph+ wind gusts. Temps ahead of this may reach 60, but will crash through the 30s quickly behind the passing front. This means rain is likely to switch to a period of light snow Sunday night and Monday morning, with snow flurries or snow showers coming in behind that…

That temp crash is pretty impressive…

The Canadian Model has a similar look with this system and it brings in another batch of snow showers late Monday and Tuesday…

The pattern for the rest of November will feature significant blocking developing overtop of a broad and deepening trough across the United States. Watch how this trough throws systems across the country…

This is a very good early season pattern for winter weather lovers across much of the country.

I will have an update later today, so check back. Happy Thanksgiving and take care.
