Good evening, folks. Here’s hoping each of you have had a wonderful weekend! We’re putting the wraps on the weekend winter storm with freezing drizzle and some light snow falling in many areas. All of this is kicking off a monster second half of winter across much of the country.

Some slick spots will likely develop overnight as light freezing drizzle and very light snow continues to fall. Keep that in mind if you’re gonna be travelling into early Monday. Here’s your regional radar…

Some areas of light snow and flurries may actually take us all the way through Monday in many areas. Low-level moisture is trapped and can spit out some more flakes or freezing drizzle.

Our next weather system moves in on Thursday and is mostly a cold rain maker for many. That will drag some cold air into the region behind it and that’s going to impact the weekend winter storm potential. Winter weather lovers want that Thursday system to be stronger so it can tug down the cold air behind it. If you don’t want winter weather, hope that’s a super weak system.

The European Model has been showing a stronger lead low on Thursday, bringing more cold air for the weekend setup. The late day GFS is doing the same thing…

That’s arctic air behind that mess. If we can manage to get snow or ice on the ground, look out…

The new version of the GFS brings all modes of precipitation…

Again, the weekend setup may bring rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow to our region. There really isn’t anything else that can be said, beyond that. 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your evening and take care.
