Good evening, folks. Heavy rain continues to cause local high water issues across the southeast, and this is a sign of things to come. Rounds of heavy rain will target the region for the week ahead, leading to an increased flood potential for the entire region.
Parts of the southeast have picked up well over and inch of rain on the day, with more coming through this evening. That may keep the local flooding issues going…
Colder winds blow in tonight and Monday and should bring a few snow showers and flurries. Temps will generally stay in the 30s for many areas.
The next system is much stronger with heavy rainfall likely. This may still start out as a wintry mix late Tuesday, before the heavy rain takes over. Here’s how the NAM sees it…

I am just now topping 1 inch in Harlan but the heavier rain is moving in. I likely reach 2 inches for my event total tonight and am closing in on 20 inches for this so-called winter-to-date! Pretty amazing, I could trade or convert rainfall to snow on an inch per inch basis and still be above average for annual snowfall, only if. SIGH!

Winter is all but over. Rain and more rain. Snow lovers missed out this year.
Me thinks any serious snow talk at this point would be borderline comical and not to be taken seriously. The models for snow make Zoolander seem high IQ.

I cant believe we dont at least have a flood Advisory this evening. Roads are getting bad with excessive overflow of ditches. You can’t buy advisories, watches, warnings or any alerts it seems anymore. SMH.
Thanks Chris. We’ve had just over a. Inch here today but the creeks and streams are backed up and overflowing their banks. With the ambit of rain that is being forecast this week the Causeway at Burnside Island may just be under water, before all is said and done. It is only about 5-6 feet below it now. Please everyone be careful and be aware of any water around you. Chris, thank you again for all you do.

Flooding underway here, lots of small streams/creeks out of their banks with no advisory or warning in sight.
Heavy rain as I type this I too am very concerned with the flooding threat.I can see the Big Sandy River from my house. I will definitely be tuned into Chris and the weather. It seems like we went through this last year I could be wrong.I don’t think this much rain was forecast hope and pray none of us see flooding.
I don’t personally live in a flood prone area but I’m definitely starting to become concerned for those that do. It has rained nonstop since around 1 today at my house and hard at times with much more forecasted on a saturated ground.
Everyone has their bold prediction, mine is that many locales in KY exceed 80, if not 90 inches of rain this year. Unfortunately, there is no weather signal in sight that flips this hellish trend we’ve already lived though for over a year now.
Any issues in Middlesboro? Water is coming up in Harlan but not over the banks yet.
Looks like I will easily exceed a foot of rain this month Troy and even close to an inch of snow. MEH!
I topped 7 inches on the month earlier and still pouring!
No issues as of yet but that’s guaranteed to happen this week.
