The Heat Is Tough To Beat

Good Sunday everyone.  This is a short and to the point update as we round out the weekend.  Let’s break it down in headline style.

-Today is a hot one.  Temps will warm into the lower 90s under mostly sunny skies.

-The dry ground is obviously having an impact on our temps.  Low humidity levels mean our temps are skewing warmer for afternoon highs. Think of a desert climate.

-A cold front works in on Monday with scattered showers and storms.  These look few and far between.

-Cooler air moves in behind the cold front into early next week.

-Things will heat up by the end of the week as temps go toward the low 90s again.

-We need rain!!!!  As I mentioned, the parched ground is now impacting the overall temps.  That’s one surefire way to know things are borderline getting out of control.

Tropical Storm Debby is in the Gulf of Mexico and looks to head toward Texas.  It doesn’t appear the SE will get any moisture from the storm.

Have a great Sunday and take care.

Yay, Chris! Looks like all those folks that complain about rain will be tickled pink when our area turns into the Sahara!! Whoooo, can’t wait!

I have to go buy a 100′ hose today because last summer I planted flowers down the hill, thinking they would be okay. Wrong!!! They are heat resistant flowers and wilted almost to the point of no return.

I sure hope the neighbors are not doing their big firework bash this year. Bourbon County needs a burn ban ASAP. It’s really bad.

Thanks, Chris. I was hoping to see some rain out of the cold front, but that does not look very likely. We are still talking weather extremes, aren’t we? What a strange weather year this has been!
Oh well. We need a rainmaker.

shouldn’t discount a more northerly track with Debby to increase moisture next weekend. Hard to jump to conclusions on the track at this point with the large model spread in place. Today’s 00Z EC and Saturday’s CMC brought rainfall into the region. Hope you’re having a good time this weekend Chris in Cincy.

Hey Mitch, do you think we have any hope for rain? What I saw on TWC yesterday showed either a hit to our east or a hit to Texas — no model showed any chance for us to get anything. The cool air moving down is supposed to push the rain either east or west. Where’s that southerly flow when you need it?

    • Shawon says:

Well the NHC says Debby will turn North into the FL panhandle and stay away from Louisiana and Texas, so there’s that.

Hot today but at least the dew point isn’t that high.. down around 50 in a lot of locations. Actually feels kinda nice if you sit in the shade with the light breeze stirring.

Come on!! Our lawns in Versailles are brown, brown. brown! So no rain in the forseeable forcast? Oh, I know, It’s waiting for the holiday to pour rain on our celebrations! CB! Can’t you help us out??

  7. Todd says:

If we stay dry all summer, odds are this winter we will turn wet? Never to early to wish for a snowy winter! We are do folks :)

Just got in from a week long conference in Reno, NV by way of Sacramento, CA… things are still remarkably green in Kentucky folks for the lack of rain we have received!

I do agree that some extra attention needs to be paid to the fireworks this year. The men and women on the big red trucks will have a busy few days I fear.
