Good Tuesday everyone. We are enjoying a very pleasant weather day across the bluegrass state as a push of September air blows it. This nice stuff isn’t going to last very long as a massive heat wave blankets much of the state by the end of the week. That will put Kentucky squarely in the mix for 100 degree temps and record setting heat. Ugh
Today is a nice one with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s across the central and east. The west and far south will be a little warmer. Everyone gets in on a big blue sky with plenty of sunshine.
Wednesday will see temps into the low 90s across the west with upper 80s to near 90 for everyone else. The heat wave will kick into high gear on Thursday and carry us through the upcoming weekend. The heat ridge on the European Model looks NASTY…
What does all that mean? How about highs topping out around 100 degrees or better on more than one day across much of the state. WOW. This may be the hottest blast of June air since 1988 and this has an outside shot at breaking all time monthly high temps for a few spots.
Can we get a drop of rain? There is a very small threat for a shower or storm over the weekend. Do your best rain dance and let me know how that works for you.
Please enjoy the weather we have today because it’s about to get ugly in a hurry. Have a great Tuesday and take care.
Looks like rain chances are diminishing this weekend. I think it was Wxman who said this but he certainly called it. It got dry really quick and doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.
I should probably clarify! I think Wxman made the call for it getting really dry around here. Not about the rain chances this weekend.
Here’s another call: I’m going to go on a limb and say that LEX will not officially hit 100 this week. I say they top out at 96°F through Saturday.
haha! We’ll find out soon enough. Always appreciate your input to this site.
Guess it helps Lexington is relatively high above sea level, about a 1000 ft. In contrast, Louisville and Nashville are roughly around 400/500 ft. Places like Paducah KY, Jackson TN and Memphis even lower.
Anyway, looks like this drought is starting to feed on itself. Unfortunately, seems TS Debby is not coming our way. Hopefully we won’t have to wait until the end of the year for drought relief.
I was only four years old during the 1988 drought, but I do remember the 1999 drought with all the brush fires and water restrictions.
Well, the heat miser wins again. Or at least he’s going to. I remember Chris going on his cold rant last week saying this cool shot that feels like September may hang around for a while. Well, how’s that working out for you now? 😉
(Just teasing you man…)
I do wonder what the 30-60-90 day models are thinking the weather will be like around here? Dry? Cool? HOT?
What an absolutely beautiful morning. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts!
Nothing depresses me more than hearing “record heat and no rain in sight”.
I have filled little wading pools and buckets for all the wildlife we get at our farm. I was almost hit by a deer on my bike ride and then the next day by a turkey! Both were going across the road to a small pond which is pretty much dried up right now.
so dry here i could have swore I saw a tazmanian devil this morning !!!…lol…
We will get a ton of rain in November once the growing season is long gone! Mother Nature is out to lunch, probably having something HOT?
I was just saying last night, why does it always have to get tinder box dry right about the time everyone is setting off fireworks? It was a beautiful morning out there. It’s gonna feel like Florida weather this weekend, folks. And when are we going to stop having extreme weather? Everything has to be at the most extreme, whether it is rain, cold, heat…we would just like some “normal”, please.
It’s been a while now since we’ve had extreme cold.
Things usually average out over time but I agree that ‘normal’ on a daily basis would be a nice-to-have.
Hey, Chris! When do you see any rain in our future? I sure wish that the south would share some, since they have toooooo much!!
1983 was a dry year also, I know a lot of you younger folks won’t remember than one, but I have photo’s from that year and everything is brown (June thru aug) period!
