Good Tuesday, folks. We have a weak cold front dropping into the region from the northwest and this is bringing a few boomers back to the bluegrass state. This kicks off a pattern featuring more widespread showers and storms through the rest of the week.
Temps today are in the mid and upper 70s with a local 80 possible. Southwest winds gust up ahead of our weak front, with a broken line of showers and storms moving in from the north by late today into this evening. A few of the storms may be strong.
Here’s the latest Severe Weather Outlook from the SPC…
Here are your tracking tools for the day…
Showers and thunderstorms look to become more widespread Wednesday and Thursday as a southern system throws moisture back to the north…
Rainfall totals from the models continue to climb through the rest of the week…
I told you not to believe those “Dry” Ensembles forecast from the past few days. 😉
Have a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris, We will have to wait as the weather models are not in agreement on precipitation totals. But one thing for sure, clouds could dominate our skies and increase our dew points so it’s not going to feel as comfortable today. The weak cool front moving through tonight may reduce the dew points for tomorrow. So far so good on the lack of severe weather. Knock on wood.
The dew points will not be lower for tomorrow at all in fact better instability will be around tomorrow for thunderstorm activity. As far as severe weather goes that maybe true for your backyard but others have seen there fair share of severe weather in parts of Kentucky.
Where? It’s been a benign spring storm season.
Just a couple of weeks back tornado touchdown in NE Jefferson County and Oldham County along with Henry County with damage. Same cell caused damage in Sparta Ky.
I’m not saying it’s been a busy widespread severe weather season but severe weather and tornadic storms have occurred in Kentucky.
We have a different climate here in my county of Taylor. The hills where I live have an influence on what weather type we receive.
As I said in your backyard not everyone lives in Taylor County.
Yes, and that’s why I moved here in the hills of Taylor County. A nice, quiet and comfortable and scenic place to retire and die. Reminds me of Mayberry. LOL
