Good Wednesday, folks. I know this won’t come as a big shock to anyone, but the wet weather is back in the bluegrass state. This wetter thanĀ normal pattern has become the norm around here for the past several years and Guess what? It really doesn’t show any signs of changing.
Showers and thunderstorms will come at us in waves today as a boundary hangs up and southern moisture gets involved with it. Heavy rain is a good likelihood and we have to be on guard for a few strong storms. Here is your daily dose of tracking toys…
The wet weather keeps on keeping on through Thursday and into early Friday. Rainfall numbers during this time can easily top 2″ in several areas…
As we head into the weekend, we turn our attention to a system diving in from the northwest. This will bring a renewed threat for showers and strong storms later Saturday, with a shot of cooler air behind it for Sunday and Monday…
Could a kiss of frost follow that by Monday morning? We shall see.
A few days ago, the Ensembles were all showing a drier pattern over the next two weeks, but we said to believe it when you see it. Well, the Ensembles keep singing a different tune and are now back to showing above normal precipitation for the next few weeks…
Until this multi-year pattern breaks, persistence forecasting really is the way to go.
Enjoy the day and take care.
Which means, that more big trees will continue to fall down upon roads & homes.
The only big trees that fall at my place are the large Virginia Pine.
Thanks.
At least this Spring, so far, hasn’t been constantly rainy, unlike winter was. I am still nearing 25 inches on the year but about 20 inches of my total came in January and February. I am fine if we keep up a lot of days of sun in between weather systems as spring has been pretty decent this year compared to the last several years. We have had little severe weather, lot of sunny days and overall above average temps! Garden season is definitely coming on strong:)
Terry, Good luck on your gardening and I wish you a bountiful harvest. We have had normal rainfall for April so far and the temperatures and dew points have been very comfortable except for this past Saturday when we had a set back to winter. I’m confused on all the weather forecasting of here lately. Too much “jumping around.” I just hope meteorologist are not heading down the “wrong road” on their weather forecasting as they had this past “Winter.” ‘ THE WINTER THAT NEVER WAS’
Thanks.
When the models came out and said drier than normal, Bailey was all over it saying he’d believe it when he saw it…good call as the computer models are now all “just kidding – the wet pattern will continue.”
For what it’s worth, I believe that when the pattern DOES change, it will catch people off guard.
Always does
Thanks Chris, In your first paragraph you stated ” That the current wetter than normal pattern of the past several years is now the norm and shows no signs of changing ” What are you saying CLIMATE CHANGE ?
Thanks.
Yes. The climate is and will continue changing as does the earth. No new news.
This is why they re-calibrate the 30-year “normal” every 10 years. Embrace the change…
No one really knows what is going on with anything on Earth except GOD.
The statement sounds political in my opinion.
That’s ironic, since you’re the one that started it š
Yes, it changes a lot. That’s why the narrative went from global warming to climate change. In the 70s it was global cooling. Silly stuff.
nws forecast for lake Cumberland area, has only minimal if any chances of rain in the forecast thru Tuesday with the exception of Thursday night to about noon on Friday…..I like that version better! LOL
And so does Thelma Lou
yes she does!
Prelude your right on target with the high dew point today measured at sixty degrees at my place and feel more like summer than spring. Hope it doesn’t storm ?
Just your average spring swing. No big deal.
Maybe, Maybe not. This pattern may be leading up to something BIG for next Winter ?
Thanks
