Good Saturday and Happy Derby Day. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms have been common over the past few days and we have another round rolling in for the big day. This will bring the potential for a soggy period at Churchill Downs and even a few strong storms in the far southeast.
This is not wall to wall rain today with the best chance of rain arriving during the afternoon and evening. Ahead of our low, there’s the possibility to get a few big thunderstorms to go up. The best chance will be in the southeastern part of the state.
Here are your Kentucky Derby Day trackers…
Some leftover showers will be noted early on Sunday, especially across the east. Skies become partly sunny in the afternoon as temps make a run at 70.
Monday looks like the absolute best day of the next week with temps closing in on 80 degrees with mostly sunny conditions.
The setup after that looks stormy with rounds of big boomers working across Kentucky through the rest of the week. That comes from a setup featuring cold air to the northwest of us and warm air around here and south…
Some severe thunderstorms are possible with this setup. It’s also a setup that can put down a lot of rainfall over the next week and change…
Have a great Saturday and take care.
I sure hope we don’t have another soaked summer. quite depressing.
Ridiculous, are we gonna have back to back years of record rainfall? I’ve grown to hate the summer months, so soupy wet, and humid.
The past Winter months have not been that great either if you are a snow lover. Being optimistic I feel a change coming for the better, but I don’t know what that may be. But one thing for sure someone will be complaining.
We sure can’t take that much rain next week.
