Good Tuesday, folks. We have a much better looking and feeling pattern taking shape for our part of the world. Temps of late have been about as chilly as you will ever find for this time of year, but a true surge of summer air is on the way.
Let us begin with today and roll forward.
Temps will be generally in the 60s for highs after starting the day around 40. You will notice clouds billowing back up during the afternoon hours, but those quickly dissipate during the evening.
Wednesday has a system dropping in from the northwest, giving us the chance for a storm or two. Temps should makeĀ a run at 70.
The warm air begins to surge in here for the end of the week and may be accompanied by a few showers and storms. Check out the toasty temps pushing in behind our Friday warm front…
Temps this weekend will be downright warm…
Humidity levels will also be climbing ahead of a cold front. That can touch off scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially later this weekend…
A more pronounced storm system may roll in here early next week…
That could wind up turning into a very active storm setup around our neck of the woods.
Have a terrific Tuesday and take care.
Starting out at 47 this morning maybe we will be warmer than expected
I laugh at how those maps always show Harlan, Middlesboro, Barbourville and other SE KY VALLEY areas so much cooler than the rest of the state based upon topography only. There needs to be a better map that can differentiate the lower elevations from higher since we are nearing the year 2020. I GUARANTEE it will not be that cool in Harlan this weekend as other sources already show 88 here.
Yeah, Terry I agree. It needs to be done, but it won’t be 88 degrees in the Cumberland Mountains this weekend. Meteorologist sometimes mention this difference in temperature elevation but not often. The county Harlan is in could mention this though ?
41 degrees here in my backyard. Forecasters say that we will be gaining on our first 90 degree temperatures soon. UGH !
Looks like from around Thursday on most will be needing the A/C by Friday for sure.
When I see comments like we may need to turn on the AC soon, I laugh inside because I’ve had mine on so many times already this year. Right now, windows are open and window fan is on.
I’ve had my air conditioners on for only a couple of days this month so far. Hate to see that change as I like the fresh air Mother Nature provides.
On 5-17-1896 in a single week very violent tornadoes hit the central plains with Seneca, Kansas taking a direct hit with F5 tornado. That week was the worse severe weather outbreak in United States history.
Yup I read this F5 tornado that was on the ground for 100 miles.
