Good Wednesday to one and all. We have a full blown summer pattern taking shape across the bluegrass state. This setup means steamy temps will be common, but the thunderstorm risk is also going to be around. This doesn’t look terribly widespread, but a few boomers are likely to crash a few parties through Memorial Day Weekend.
Let us begin with today and roll forward. Temperatures are in the mid and upper 80s for much of the state with a 90 showing up in the west and south. Humidity levels will be way up, too.
A broken line of showers and thunderstorms will be possible in the west and central parts of the state. I suppose a strong storm or two is possible, but the dynamics with this system have really died out. Here are your tracking toys to be safe…
Thursday is another very steamy day, but may throw a few more showers and storms at us compared to today…
That’s with a weak boundary that gets close to northern Kentucky before putting the brakes on and sliding back to the north. That means the steamy air rolls through Friday and into Memorial Day Weekend. By Sunday and Memorial Day, that boundary may come back south and give us an increase in storm action…
While the warm pattern should carry us through the close of May, the pattern changes up to kick off the month of June.
Have a wonderful Wednesday and take care.
No steamy air here yet. Right now the temperature is 58 degrees and the dew point at 55 degrees. Mid 80’s forecast for this afternoon through the weekend with just a slight chance of showers. not counting on the showers. Drought conditions may be developing in my area of Kentucky thanks to the southeast ridge which acts like the ” Star Trek defector shield. ” Only .94 inches of rain for the month so far and around 23 inches for the year.
winter is coming
LOL. The models consistently want to show colder a few weeks out, like for June at this current time, but I can’t even buy into that at this point until we fully break this overall pattern. Since late fall, we have been in a pattern that is about 3 weeks straight above average and then 5 days or less below average. Rinse and repeat.
Winter is coming that’s inevitable, but will it be the weather type we all want SNOW !!!!!!!!
It’s 79 degrees now but the dew point is right at 61 degrees and very breezy. Line of rain showers just to our west are becoming weak in intensity and area coverage. Maybe the northeastern part of the state may get some showers later.
Currently here it is 89 with dp of 67 and steady average windspeed of 7 with gusts to 14
Dewpoint of 63 in Harlan….getting toasty but not yet oppressive with humidity. We should be in the low 90s later in the week if no much cloud cover.
It is currently 92 here
