Good Wednesday, everyone. Our small break from showers and storms is coming to and end as the boomers are back in the bluegrass state. This action is along and just ahead of another cool push of air surging in from the northwest. Even with the cooler air, we just cant shake the wet pattern as more rain arrives this weekend.
Let’s begin with today and roll forward. Highs are in the mid and upper 70s with an 80 possible. Winds will be gusty as a deep trough digs into the region. This has the potential to crank some strong or locally severe storms this afternoon and evening. Hail an high winds are the main threats. Here’s the Severe Weather Outlook from the SPC…
Some leftover showers and gusty winds will carry us into Thursday as highs struggle to get to the 70 degree mark for some areas. Friday morning is really cool across the eastern half of the state with near record lows in the 40s…
After a nice start to the weekend, rounds of showers and storms kick back in for Sunday and that looks to stick around for much of next week. As a matter of fact this pattern is threatening to turn back into a full blown soaker over the next few weeks. Take a look at the latest rain numbers during this time…
The European Weeklies from WeatherBell say this is a sign of things to come through the third week of July. Look at all this above normal rainfall…
Ugh!
I leave you with your tracking toys to follow today’s showers and storms…
Have a great Wednesday and take care.
Tired of this trashy weather. Phoenix sounds much better.
Great city with good healthy climate. I like Kentucky better and it’s my home.
I know we need some rain for crops and such, but yeesh lol.
This weather is about as exciting as are politicians in Washington.
That’s very true LOL.
Wash, Rinse, Repeat
This is likely going down as a double digit rainfall month for many or all of us in KY! A few are areas are close already with 7 plus inches last week!
This new climate is a thing of misery. We have lost both our winters ans summers. The only thing you can count on is excess rain.
I have noticed that the yards and landscaping around the area just look horrible. It seems as though that weeds thrive in these conditions. Yards also look shaggy. I guess that people just don’t have time to maintain them since you have such very tight windows to be outside. Sunshine is a key component of optimal health and we don’t get enough sunny days anymore. Might have to try and find a tanning bed to get essential Vitamin D.
All Bobt the weather is always changing. I agree the weather patterns are longer lasting it seems. I remember the 1960’s where the Summers were hot early and the Falls came early and most of the Winters were mild until 1969-70 when the snow kicked in.
On the bright side, since this is looking like another coolish, wet summer, my water bill should be lower than normal again since I won’t have to turn the sprinklers on nearly as frequently.
Lower electric too for cooling:)
We had a rather hot May in SE KY and my June electric bill unfortunately shows it:(
As long as the air conditioning is off and the windows are open I’m good.
One inch per week on all lawns. I just have natural beauty around my home and I just let Mother Nature take care of my yard.
Above reply for Jimmie’s post
It’s nearly impossible to keep my farm mowed when it won’t stop raining. I work full time so the only time I have to do it is weekends or in bits and pieces after work during the week. Right now things are looking pretty rough. Rain is making it tough on the farmers as well who need a dry window to cut hay. Wishing for a week with no rain. Sigh…
On a positive note, I’m loving these cool temps!
We need SUNSHINE to get the growing degree days high and I know everyone would be in a better mood, especially the much needed farmers.
Am I the only one who is totally sick to death of this miserable bleeping rain forest we live in and is apparently now the norm?
No. I love active weather but even I could use some summer sun
I think the whole USA right now is a tropical rain forest, especially east of the Rocky Mountains. It’s not just us. Everyone is getting hammered right now.
The Virginias both VA and WV where I live, have even gotten hit harder than KY this year, which is highly unusual.
Yeah, even areas like the high plaines that average less than half the annual rainfall average of what KY/WVA normally receives are staying wet, and not just for a few months but recent years!
