Good Saturday and welcome to the weekend. As you are well aware, our weather pattern for the past several years has been a soggy one. Well, guess what? After a small break in the action, we have more soggy times on the way as rounds of showers and thunderstorms rumble through.
Let’s begin with today’s forecast then get the wet weather pattern started. Highs today range from 80-85 in the west to near 80 for the east. There should be a few showers or thunderstorms going up as humidity levels increase. There’s even the chance for some strong to severe storms this evening…
Here are your tracking tools for the day…
A front drops in from the northwest on Sunday, bringing showers and thunderstorms with it. Some of these storms may also be strong or severe. Here’s the Severe Weather Outlook from the SPC…
This front slows down across the region through next week, sending waves of showers and storms with it. This doesn’t mean it will storm all the time, but when it does storm, it’s gonna put down a ton of rain. The GFS shows this well over the next few weeks…
It’s also a pattern that will continue to throw some strong or severe storms at us from time to time.
Happy Friday and take care.
Geeze, I will probably top 40 inches before the 4th this year! I am currently at 33.65 inches with over a dozen mesonets already at and over the 30 inch mark on the year…could we actually beat out 2018 for total rainfall, areawide?
yes we probably will
We need drier weather.
Very very true !
Yes, it’s definitely a possibility we may be wetter than last year in some locations. Yesterday’s dew point was an impressive 36 degrees. In the month of June that is rare in our neck of the woods. I can remember the last time the dew point was that low was in 1976. The beginning of a very cold and snowy Winter.
Jeff said it!
Would love to see a good dry stretch. I know the drought fear mongers would come out in full force but all this rain is depressing. It’s not normal for it to rain over 50% of the year. I miss normal summers where you wanted to spend days around the water just to stay cool. Forty degree nights in mid-June is just not normal.
I had a touch of brown yard back in May! But, the browning lawn stopped when the rain hit on June 1st. Now, I doubt we see any brown lawns anytime soon. Believe it or not, I am slightly ahead of last year’s rainfall for year-to-date through June 15th:P
Slightly above normal on rainfall here in Taylor County.
Blame it on the Solar Minimum ( no Sunspots) is one theory.
Grand Rain Maximum…lol. If we are not currently in the Grand Rain Maximum, we are in trouble for the future!
Some areas will get rain others won’t. As for me we have had enough for at lease two weeks. Hope this wind this afternoon doesn’t blow out our power like it did the other day.
All the rain is in central Indiana. Has the warm front stalled in that area ? and looks to be moving east rather than south. One can hope the rain will dry up before reaching central Kentucky.
Hope that cold front promise to enter the state tomorrow doesn’t stall out but completely clear the state of Kentucky and take all the storms and waves of rain with it.
Longing for the days of a true drought…but alas, the “new Pacific Northwest” won’t allow such a thing.
