Good Wednesday, folks. The threat for severe thunderstorms will increase later today into tonight as a system moves our way from the west. This also means the threat for flooding and flash flooding will continue across the entire region. This continues to be part of an overall very stormy and wet setup across Kentucky.
Let’s begin with today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will go up through the early afternoon, with the main action kicking in later today into tonight. Strong to severe storms will develop just to our west and roll eastward into Kentucky. Here’s today’s Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…
Thursday will feature more rounds of heavy rain producing showers and thunderstorms that will likely cause more high water issues.
A small break in the action shows up on Friday, but clusters of strong thunderstorms will quickly fire back up and dive in here from the northwest. The first may arrive Friday night and early Saturday…
That would introduce another flood and flash flood threat this weekend into early next week.
The new European weeklies from WeatherBell takes us through August first and continues to show MUCH above normal rainfall around here and for much of the country…
This wet pattern continues to be absolutely amazing in terms of longevity and overall strength.
Let’s get back to the severe threat and flash flood threat for today. Here are your tracking tools …
Possible Watch Areas
Have a great Wednesday and take care.
I don’t think “amazing” is the word for this pattern. 😉
Instead of the Dark Ages, this is the “Wet Ages.”
Everyone has their own word to describe our current weather pattern Jeff.
WOW!
I am going to bore you all with yet another bold prediction: Last year, I predicted around June that areawide we would hit and exceed to our annual rainfall average by September 1st.. I think I was off about a few weeks as most came in and exceeded average annual rainfall in mid September or early October. This year, my bold prediction is, by August 1st, most of us area wide in and around KY will meet/exceed our annual average rainfall !
You all can bet against me if you want but a lot of official stations over 30 inches for the year, including my unofficial station. Areawide and does vary a little only, most of us fall in between 40 to 50 inches of rain annually….we aren’t far from there!
All Terry you never bore me with your post. I’ll take your predictions anytime.
Last 48 hours we received 0.94 inches of rain. No complaints here except we need a cool, drier and Sunny period to get some outdoor work done.
Been lucky here in WKY thus far into this week as we’ve missed most of the rain…will Wednesday see the rain train pulling back in….hope not but well see.
Your luck ran out! 😛
Thanks Chris. Doggone I wish the rain train would derail for a little bit. Would be nice to have a few dry days strung together. More than one dry day would be nice. I know you only tell us what is coming, you don’t cause it. But doggone it if you have any pull at all, tell Mother Nature we need a break! 😉 Seriously, we’ve been fairly lucky this week. We’ve only had a little over 2 inches since Monday. Hope everyone is safe and dry. Have a god night
