Good Wednesday, everyone. Normal summer temps are finally arriving in the bluegrass state bringing some steam to the region. This steamy air is likely to hold through the weekend as scattered storms slowly kick back in. The stormy skies may become more prominent this weekend into the start of July.
Temps out there today are in the mid and upper 80s for many. Humidity levels are on the increase and there’s a slight chance for a shower or storm going up, especially in the west. Here’s regional radar to help you out…
Thursday and Friday will see temps closing in on 90 for many areas. The wet ground and lush vegetation will make it hard for temps to get too toasty, but that does mean more humidity around. Scattered storms will go up, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
That’s a trend that will carry us through the weekend, with a slight uptick in the amount of thunderstorm action.
The focus on your 4th of July week continues to be on a better potential for rounds of storms to return to the region. That’s something I alluded to with my last update and it’s looking a little more like another battle zone takes shape around here. You can see that on the GFS…
The model is starting to increase the rainfall numbers over the next few weeks…
The more things change, the more they… Awwww… Forget it. š
Have a great Wednesday and take care.
The battle for Ky.
Cooler air wins in the summer..
Warmer air wins in the winter.
But rain wins all year long.
TRUTH!
LOL right………
Iām not sold on the whole cooler air in the summer part at all.
Maybe down the road a Major Volcano will erupt somewhere that would make the Earth COLDER and we would plunge into an ICE AGE !!! Just kidding around. With that you would have snow and ice on the ground year round and no food for maybe thousands of years( it would be the END.) Now the current weather pattern doesn’t looks so bad does it.
And I’m certainly not even remotely sold on the winter “smackdown” that was mentioned a couple days ago. lol
Who wants to make a dare with me that July WANT BE as wet as June…no one I bet, lol! I bet many in KY get close to 10 inches of rain again next month:P
Also, I bet we get a tropical system (or 2) to roll this way somewhere around Agust to October. Enjoy the dry this week:)
I wouldn’t bet against you… Weather trends do not change without some sort of major event in the atmosphere to reverse them.
Terry, you are probably going to be right about the wet weather pattern picking back up in July and through the rest of the growing season. We all might as well just except that the climate has changed and go forward with our lives. Doesn’t mean that we won’t have snowstorms anymore during Autumn, Winter or Spring, but these events may be years apart and not long lasting. The Solar cycles are not well understood but it is the main player on the Earth’s overall climate.
Terry ( at least I think it was you that said) that the oscillations we are currently in are perfect for what we need to have a good winter?
Yeah…only since late May so far though. Likelihood of this exact pattern staying for winter this far out is about 0, but the pattern could reverse again by winter. One can only hope as I dont think I can bare another winter of rain and warm…lol
Terry, I don’t think I can bear another gloomy, warm and wet winter either but I have this feeling we are going to have to just ride it out again. UGH !!!
Have a great afternoon and evening everyone.
Poor ole West KY! Literally, you all only got 1 day break! I hope SE KY stays dry a few more days as my poor plants need it!
It was 88 here today and dang dewpoints are increasing, but I have no complaints with the sunny weather
