Good Friday, folks. Our LOOOOOOONG 4th of July holiday weekend rolls on with more of the same coming from Mother Nature. Steamy temps give way to afternoon showers and thunderstorms each day. Blah, Blah and Blah. There may be a break in the action early next week as the tropics try to show some life.
Let’s begin with today. Storms are scattered early on but will increase this afternoon and evening. A few strong or locally severe storms are possible with high winds the main thing to watch for. These storms are also loaded with lightning and torrential rains that can cause local flash flooding.
The forecast for Saturday and Sunday is for more of the same. It won’t rain all the time, but when it does, it’s gonna come down hard.
We may see a break in the action early next week as temps and humidity levels come down a bit. The setup for later next week is going to try to put a trough in the eastern part of the country, but the tropics may have something to say about that.
The setup looks to be conducive for something to form across the southeast or in the Gulf of Mexico. The European Model is now latching on to that idea and even tries to bring the leftovers toward our region…
If that happens, it would make it harder for a tough to really dig in here, but could mean something for us to watch from the tropics.
As always, I have you set to do some storm tracking. Here are the tools for the job…
Possible Watch Areas
Have a great day after the 4th and take care.
Yesterday was a typical Independence Day with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 80’s and ended with a 48 hour rainfall total 1.42 inches. Chris mention that the trough that was suppose to cool our area down is dependent on what forms in the Gulf of Mexico, interesting. The surface sea temperatures in the Gulf are in the upper 80’s primed for tropical development.
Have a great day and evening everyone !
Thanks Chris. Yesterday was a good day at our house. We got all the posts in and secured for the fence and the braces and pickets start going on today! And when we get hot we can cool off in the pool we are in process of fencing off! So it’s a win win! Right now, it’s a balmy 94 degrees with partly cloudy conditions. Typical summer time weather. Yes it’s hot but it’s supposed to be! Loving it! Have a great Friday everyone
Loving this 80 degree Dew point ugh
That’s beyond miserable for a dew point temperature. I’m trying to figure out where this cooler than normal temperatures that was forecast a few weeks back?? The above normal rainfall is pretty much spot on. The cooler temperatures yeah not so much.
Coldest low for Harlan shows 68 next week. No real cold front which is normal during Dog Days but these models keep showing cool….bad just like this past winter!
