Good Saturday to one and all. We continue to see afternoon highs getting closer to where we should be for the end of July, but that isn’t going to last long. Cooler than normal temps are on the way to end the month and kick off August. The transition will also feature an increase in showers and storms.
As usual, let’s begin with where we are today. The day starts pleasant enough, but reading warm into the mid and upper 80s for many areas. Humidity levels are still not terribly high for this time of year, but you will notice a little increase in the sweat factor. We may also pop a few isolated showers and storms, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on those.
Just in case you are holding your breath, here’s regional radar to help you exhale…
Similar temps will be noted on Sunday as we get a little better chance for a shower or storm to develop.
Showers and storms will then increase from west to east later Monday into Tuesday, but neither day will feature all day rain by any means.
The big news is the cooler air being ushered in by this system as a trough digs back into the east by Tuesday…
That trough may try to spit and leave energy slowly meandering across the south later in the week into next week. That could create some kind of cutoff system trying to develop, bringing a return of rain chances. You can see that on the GFS animation from Monday through Sunday…
If that setup is realizes, it could also open the door for some up close tropical development .
HaveĀ a great Saturday and take care.
OK, so KU electric bill comes out each month about the 19th or 20th. How it’s possible that my KU bill is only $95 dollars this month blows my mind. If they estimate, that would make sense… but they SWEAR they do not estimate EVER. But the billing is so erratic……Months when I expect my bill to be rather large, it’s low, and months when I expect it to be lower, it’s way up there. Take last July and August…. July was $108, and August was $260. Oh well, no big deal I guess. It all averages about $135 per month over 12 months.
Yeah, my July bill came out a few weeks ago (mostly based upon mid June to early July), is lower than my June bill was as well….makes no sense as I used less air in May and early June than recently. Unfortunately, the recent few weeks will show up on my August bill. IF KU DOESN’T ESTIMATE, the August bill should be much higher. I agree with you that they simply DO NOT always read the usage. Same with the dang water at times. I have filled up a small pool and my bill not change. Then, I have a month with basically no plant watering or any abnormal use and it goes sky high. I have no leaks!
Our water bill is a game we play each month, guessing what it will be. There are just the 2 of us and we don’t have a pool or anything, so there’s really no reason that it fluctuates so much. Drives me crazy!
I don’t either! Water is suppose to be ACTUAL READ. Oh well, I have one that is consistent monthly and non-weather related to pricing, my mortgage! LOL
My cabin is well insulated and my electric bill during the Summer months runs around $145.00 per month. During the Winter depending on the outside temperature it will usually run around $190.00 per month. My cabin in total square footage 2700 square feet counting the garage and basement. I have no complains until we have a power outage which is quite often any time of the year. Right now we have no phone service and it’s been over 48 hours. My phone company can’t give me any reason for the outage or when phone service will be restored. Scary ! It may be an EMP attack ! very very scary !
Right now the temperature in my backyard is 61 degrees and the dew point at 58 degrees which makes it feel very comfortable and I hope that the hot and humid weather is mostly over for this year. I’m ready for some Fall and Winter talk.
I’m on Taylor County water but most out this way have wells and some are on springs that run year round. The water is good here and I don’t have any complaints. When I moved here I had a place in my field where I could have had a five acre lake but the Agriculture Extension Agency told me that the lake would not hold water because of the soil type. BUMMER !!! I was going to stock the lake with Brim (Blue Gill) and fat head minnows and use the minnows for bate. I really miss fishing. Today would have been a great day to go fishing. It’s beautiful outside !
