Good Saturday, everyone. Our cold front continues to slowly press just to our south after underachieving on rainfall across the state. The air behind this boundary is pretty darn nice today, but a surge of heat and humidity is on tap for late Sunday and Monday. That may be a little preview of what’s to come later in the month.

Today’s cold front may still be just close enough for an isolated shower or storm across far southern Kentucky early today…

Temps are generally in the low and middle 80s as humidity levels slide. The weather out there this evening is going to be awfully hard to beat, so get out and soak it up.

Sunday starts in the upper 50s and low 60s, but ends with temps ranging from 85-90 in most areas. There’s a slight chance for a shower or storm to flare up in the west, but most should stay dry.

A major heat wave is ongoing across parts of the southern plains and lower Mississippi Valley. The outer edge of that throws some heat our way on Monday as temps make a run at 90 or a little better in some areas. It will be interesting to see if a few thunderstorms fire up to tame the temps a bit in some areas.

Those storms will be ahead of a cold front approaching late Tuesday into Wednesday. The new version of the GFS has been struggling out of the gate. The Euro has been better, but still not up to Euro standards. So, I’m rolling with the Canadian on this one…

The Canadian didn’t overdo the cool of the past week, but it is catching on to what’s behind this front…

As that pulls out of town, we will need to watch for some late season heat making a run at us!

We are getting toward the heart of the hurricane season and the National Hurricane Center is upping the odds for another above average year…

One of the reasons for the increase is because the El Nino appears to be falling apart. Check out this area in the Equatorial Pacific…

You can clearly see those cooler anomalies taking over in that part of the Pacific. That is certainly NOT the case for the rest of the Pacific or other oceans. The amount of warmer than normal ocean water across the world is absolutely astounding! Such warm water across the globe is really making it difficult for pattern recognition folks like myself. It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of cooling we see over the next few months.

If you’re a fan of winter weather, you do love seeing all that super warm water in the northern Pacific toward Alaska.

Make it a great day and take care.
