Good Wednesday, everyone. Strong to severe storms rolled across the bluegrass state on Tuesday, kicking off a fairly wet pattern for the rest of the week. It’s also a setup that will bring some comfortable air back into town into the coming weekend. The setup for the week leading up to Labor Day is looking active as another cool shot dives into the country.

Before I get into the weather part of the program, I wanted to talk for a moment on a longtime commenter on KWC. Many of you have seen Coffeelady in the comments section since day one of the blog. Her daughter tells me she is facing some serious health issues and is to undergo surgery today and could use some good vibes. Please send some her way, no matter if it’s through positive thoughts or prayers.

Our weather for this Wednesday will feature more in the way of steamy temps, but the numbers are quite a bit below where we have been. A few clusters of showers and thunderstorms will continue to show up, but this isn’t even close to being all day type stuff. That said, we will need to be on guard for another round of big boomers this evening.

A few strong to severe storms will be possible and I have you all set to do some tracking…

A cold front slowly drops into the region and slows down for Thursday and Friday and becomes stationary…

Waves of showers and thunderstorms will be on the move from west to east during this time. A few strong storms will be possible, but the heavy rain threat may take control. While I don’t see either day as being a total washout, the rain chances are pretty high. This could impact high school football action, especially across the southern half of the state Friday evening.

That front may try to linger into the weekend and that would keep the chance for a few showers and storms going. The temperature trend is way down from later Thursday through the weekend. If the front can push a little farther south, it may feel awfully comfy.

Another deep trough digs into the country by the middle and end of next week. Temps will rebound around here ahead of this into the first half of the week, but that cooler air should work in here as we get closer to the Labor Day Weekend.

Given the temperature fights going on, the amount of rain that falls around here should average above normal over the next 2 weeks…
