Good Sunday, everyone. September is off and running on a steamy and sometimes stormy note across our part of the world. As this happens, Hurricane Dorian is threatening the southeastern seaboard and continues to show no signs of a direct impact on our weather. Indirectly, it may help deepen a trough across the eastern half of the country, though.
Let’s begin with today and roll forward. Temps are similar to where they’ve been for the past few days and we are likely to see a scattering of showers and storms. Once again, more folks stay dry than get wet, but any storm that goes up could be on the strong side.
Here are your Sunday storm trackers…
Our Labor Day Forecast looks to feature more of the same with a few thunderstorms crashing some cookouts.
From this point, our pattern will be dictated by what happens with Hurricane Dorian. This hurricane continues to be absolutely unbelievable to look at…
This may very well achieve Category 5 status at some point. Here’s the latest update and track forecast from the National Hurricane Center…
Here are the latest Hurricane Model forecasts…
The GFS Ensembles…
The models and track forecast for this hurricane have shifted dramatically over the past few days and may very well shift again as the system rips through the Bahamas. Everyone along the east coast from Florida to North Carolina need to be on guard for a potential impact from this storm.
If this storm goes all the way up the coast like some models are suggesting, we could get some healthy shots of cool behind this…
Again, the extent of those cool shots depend on how everything with Dorian plays out in the coming days.
Have a happy Sunday and take care.
Latest Euro run matches up with gfs.
The hurricane has shift a little to the west.
Yes looks like models are slowly moving back west each run..Bad news one would think for the East coast..Dorian has to weaken at some point I guess..Sure is a sight to look at though at the moment.
As a weather geek, I have not seen such a long-lasting, beautiful structure and a consistently concentric and healthy eye wall from a hurricane such as this one. Too bad it couldn’t be several hundred miles away in the open Atlantic, moving away from any populated areas.
Cat 5 160 MPH..Bahamas parts of gonna get crushed..
But will it stay on a westward path after it gets past the northwest Bahamas or will it turn north is the question meteorologist can’t answer. Scary ! I’ll pray for all.
Hurricane Dorian is now a category 5 and moving westward towards the northwest Bahamas at the present.
First meteorological day of Autumn. Sure doesn’t feel like it.
Schroeder, notice that CB said in his post that Hurricane Dorian has no direct impact on our weather.
Well Prelude, I guess you and Chris know more than I will ever know about meteorology. I’m outdated and will never be at the skill level you and Chris are. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Have a good afternoon.
Schroeder, you said last Thursday or Friday the weather we’re experiencing late last week is directly related to Hurricane Dorian. Last Thursday or Friday Dorian was approaching Puerto Rico there’s just no way a Hurricane way down in Puerto Rico can have any affect on the weather in the Ohio Valley last week.
Prelude, why do you and Chris Bailey keep belittle me ? I admit that I was wrong by saying that our weather is being influence by Hurricane Dorian by holding a high pressure over our area. Whether you or Chris Bailey think that I am wrong or right doesn’t really matter to me at all. I’ll say it again you and Chris are light years ahead of me but you two have countless number of times ( Chris just once on Palm Sunday a few years back) have told the world that I don’t know anything and I was a nothing. Again have a great afternoon.
No CB said nothing of that sort at all. Maybe in Schroeder’s world that was said but here in the world of reality that just wasn’t said.
Check out April 9th, 2017 on Palm Sunday It was a very rude remark against me for the whole world to see.
The meteorologists have answered that question Dorian will turn northward
What Meteorologists, the ones that play the computer game for their forecast ? I heard a Meteorologist say this morning on the TV that she didn’t know where this dangerous storm was going. At lease she had the education to admit it.
913 extrapolate with a wind gust of 217 from recon a few minutes ago..Getting stronger..amazing
I don’t trust the computers on this Hurricane. If I was in Florida I would still prepare for the worst. East Florida for sure.
I agree, I don’t think east coast Florida should let their guard down at all on this one.
Who says they are??
For sure..Don’t think models were predicting a cat 5 with 175 MPH winds a few days ago..Anyways think places like NC /SC should be worried also..
Who says there not? NC/SC are very aware of the possibility’s and are already taken action.
Calm down my bad I get what you’re saying
Didn’t say there not preparing..Just meant Dorian could possibly make landfall in that area..jeesh
Here’s my forecast : I predict that Hurricane Dorian will continue on it’s westward path and not make a turn towards the north until it makes landfall somewhere north or south of West Palm Beach, Florida. If I am wrong I will admit it immediately on this blog. If I am right I will say nothing. Done with the comments until Hurricane Dorian is in the past.
That’s a lie you’ll comment before Wednesday or Thursday of next week lol
I predict that the hurricane will be dangerous cat4 when it reaches Taylor county.
You need to start taking precautions. (lol)
Yeah I’m not real sure why my comments are being posted in the wrong spots? lol
