Good Saturday, folks. It’s another warm weekend here in the bluegrass state and we have plenty more warmth to go through before we can get to true fall. That may not happen until we are deep into October. Between now and then, it’s more of the same with a few exceptions. One of those comes Sunday night and Monday in the form of a cold front.
I will get to that front in a bit, but let’s start with the weather out there today. Highs are deep into the 80s and should manage 90 for some with a mix of sun and clouds. Blah, blah, blah.
Sunday looks like a very windy and warm day as clouds increase in the afternoon and evening. Those clouds are ahead of our cold front that will have a line of showers and thunderstorms with it. This looks like the first of two systems set to impact our region next week. The second arrives around Thursday. Watch how the models handle these systems…
GFS
Canadian
That run of the Canadian actually shows three systems bringing, at least, some rain into the state. Temps look much better during this time, but those numbers won’t stay near normal for long. A heat wave is likely to develop for the last few days of September into early October. As we bake, the west turns very cold…
That pattern can produce record highs around our part of the world.
Earlier this week, I broke down some of the prior years that match up well with this hot and mainly dry fall pattern. Out of all those, 1939 looks to take control with the early October heat.
Make it a great day and take care.
Here is a very informative article on 1939-40 https://1ocean-1climate.com/u-s-a-record-winter-193940-not-yet-explained/
Well here in Southern Ohio where I live got some well needed rain this morning. I got almost 1/2 inch in my rain gauge. Most of the rain is north of the Ohio River right now. looks like more on the way here on radar.
No rain here in central Kentucky. I don’t remember any September where we didn’t receive at lease an inch of rain. The long stretch of highs in the 90’s just adds insult to injury. I’m hopeful because some areas like where Bus lives had rain, so we are getting closer to maybe a pattern change ? Like I said on past post ” it the surface sea temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean and all the tropical storm activity and also what is going on with the Sun that is causing our late Summer heat wave. Keep a positive thought folks.
Yes, keep positive thoughts. Evidently except for people who believe in science. Schroeder wants God to destroy us for making him listen to climate change facts.
No climate change talk in 1939 when a similar run happened:)
Laughably bad pattern. Two days ago the heat was to last to early October, yesterday mid October, todays it’s “deep” into October. The goalposts keep moving deep into Fall.
There is no indication the SER will nudge for months. Record, and probably unprecedented warmth and drought well into next year.
Ain’t climate change fun?
Some wise advice and just my opinion : The Faction that is trying to take over our Great Country is now using their political power to get their agenda through by using social media and some continuous news stations. I got so sick and tired of it that I quit listening to all news because every other word is ” climate change and if we don’t act now we are not going to have a future on Earth ” These people are brain washing us and scaring our children. Everyone please don’t fall for this political crap. God, I hate what is going on in our Great Country. Hopefully and I pray hard that God will step in and destroy the evil that has taken over our world. End of rant.
You are praying for God to smite people because they don’t agree with your opinion on science (btw you don’t get to have an opinion on science – global climate change is happening and will continue because your generation has done nothing to stop it)? You are insane and Chris needs to ban you on here.
We can’t even read a weather blog without boomers trying to ruin that, too.
The people who don’t understand science and the processes of global warming (being rapidly accelerated by the excessive burning of fossil fuels) will always hide behind religion and brain-washing to argue that something isn’t real. The fact is these people who deny science are the ones that have been brain-washed by irrational religious and political beliefs. Until every single person puts aside their own selfish beliefs and looks at the scientific reality of what is actually happening, nothing is ever going to change for the better for this precious planet that gives us life.
Climate has been changing for billions of years. ICE AGE anyone?? The actual scientific reality is that Government can’t change mother nature, not with taxation, not with regulation. PERIOD!
What? The ice age happened because of predicable changes in the procession of the tilt of the Earth. There’s no other explanation for the one hundred year trend other than more CO2 from burning fossil fuels.
Of course we can change that.
If we didn’t destroy the atmosphere and forever altering the climate back in the 40s and 50s with the Nukes we detonated, then excuse me if I sit back and laugh as the rage at Soccer Mom’s driving surburbans is to blame for “Climate Change”
With all due respect did you graduate from Trump University?
I read in a scientific journal about a month ago, that even Exxon Mobil scientists back in the 70’s were aware that putting CO2 carbon into the air would warm the earth.
E.M. scientists performed several experiments and concluded that CO2 gas was warming the earth’s atmosphere.
Believing that Government can address what has been happening for literally billions of years with taxation and regulations is the very example of insanity if I ever saw one. ICE AGE?? You think that was started by burning fossil fuels and lax regulations?
Bob, sorry you feel that way about me and I find that your remarks are very defamatory. Calling me insane is the word you should have never used. As far as Chris Bailey banning me from his weather forum that would not bother me in the lease as there are other weather forum out there with a lot more meteorological information. The main reason I comment on here is that Chris’s blog and comment section is easy for me to obtain. One more thing and I quote ” the weather runs in cycles. ” The hot and dry September is not my generations fault. Global warming is a political tool the faction is using to get their agenda through as a one world government in my opinion. Have a great day.
Oh, a conspiracy theorist, too?
It’s a lovely 54° morning here in Apple Valley, CA.
Their weather looks as dry as ours.
It’s a desert area, but the low humidity is nice.
And there is no lawn maintenance.
Which means it does not matter if it rains or not.
Wow Jeff, your job takes you all around the country. I think that’s great. It was a balmy 60 degrees here this morning.
I’m on a vacation seeing family. 😉
A portion of the Harlan area joins the fray of record dry streaks. Through the 19th, a location about 2 miles north of Mary Alice near Walnut Lane has recorded 22 consecutive days with no measurable rainfall. Date only goes back to January 2017.
