Good Wednesday, weather weenies. We’re rolling into the middle of the week with another cold front rolling toward Kentucky. This front slows down late tonight and Thursday, bringing the potential for beneficial rains to much of the Commonwealth. Yippee!
Our day starts in the upper 40s and low 50s and ends with temps back into the lower 80s for many. Clouds will increase and a few showers and storms may impact the region late in the day, especially in the west. This front will then become more west to east oriented into Thursday. That should allow for rounds of showers and storms to develop along this boundary, bringing some healthy rains into the region.
Check out some of the model rainfall numbers with this setup…
GFS
Here are your tracking toys to follow this action in from the west…
Temps behind this front will drop pretty good on Thursday and early Friday, but a big rebound is on the way by Friday afternoon. This kicks off another hot period that should last into the first few days of October. There is a slight chance for a shower or storm over the weekend and that is showing up on the models…
As we’ve talked about for a while now, 90 degree temps will likely be with us to end September and into the first few days of the new month. Record or near record highs are likely during this time.
The heat doesn’t look quite as prolonged as first feared as a cold front looks to sweep in here late next week, possibly bringing a significant shot of early October chill…
Obviously, all that depends a lot on what happens with the busy tropics. Check out all the action going on…
There’s no short term threat to land, but we will need to watch Karen to see if it can eventually threaten the southeast or get into the Gulf.
Have a great day and take care.
Looking down the road, getting past this incoming heat wave, possibly getting into the first few days of October and then…what is this? A true Fall feel, temps possibly struggling to get out of the 60’s by October 4, a Friday night treat for regional high school games? This is just one run of the Euro forecast model
Healthy rain? Like in much needed or like in amount. I dont see 0.2 – 0.5 inches as being much at all. But we should take what we can get at this moment. Also, which map is incorrect as they are the same.
” A nice shot of rain” for some lucky areas. The forecast for my county of Taylor is for a 50% chance of rain for early tomorrow with less than 0.25 to 0.50 expected from another weak Pacific cold front. Lets all keep that positive thought.
Chris, the Tropical Atlantic would have to go completely inactive for that particular GFS model to pan out showing Arctic air moving south all the way to the Gulf. Tropical Storm Karen is currently moving north and Hurricane Lorenzo is moving northwest and is expected to become a major Hurricane on last report.
If you would only stop being a troll and stop your I know more than CB does about weather attitude. That my would be a start on the power of positivity on this blog. The other would be to stick to what you say about 10 times a week that your done with your comments and your sick of this blog and actually see that through. That would be great and much appreciated.
Yesterday, I took the time to look up years where the Atlantic hurricane and tropical storm season was the lease active. The year that had the lease activity was 1917-18. That Autumn and Winter was really interesting with a blizzard on December eight and snowstorms occurred all the way through January through March and there wasn’t any drought. However, 1976-78 we had a somewhat active Atlantic with a very dry Autumn with pleasant temperatures in the 60’s and lows in the 30’s followed by( as all over the age of 65) remember was our last real old fashion Autumn and Winter. Whether we will return to our four seasons is questionable with the current weather pattern lock in place. I got to admit that yesterday’s weather was perfect for any outdoor work or play. Yes, I’m back commenting because I like to write my comments on the weather the same as all of you do and I have that right to do so. Have a great day everyone.
Really!?! Did you ever leave??? I thought your brother was taken your computer away from you as you couldn’t afford one? But then again Schroeder wouldn’t be Schroeder without his constant lies and trolling ways so do what you do best.
But his brother did not take back his smartphone.(lol)
Just like clockwork Schroeder does his worn out I’m taking my ball and going home act, but we all know he’s lying. Every other month or so he does this like clockwork after he has drawn negative attention to himself for something he has done or said. He must have some sort of issue with a need for negative attention because it’s wash, rinse, and repeat with him. Schroeder says something that draws attention to himself, he then claims how mean people are to him, he states he will never be back here again, and then within a day he’s back claiming he will never leave this blog. Am I leaving anything out? When will be his next act? I am on this blog daily and haven’t commented in months, but Schroeder’s act is so tiring. He asks why people are so mean to him when he does it to himself. I have no idea what he gets out of doing this?
Jeff, he’s attention starved and bored he literally likes to rattle cages and I for one just keep feeding him the attention he wants. It’s real hard for me to ignore and overlook his ignorance and trolling ways. Some people can just ignore it, me unfortunately Im just not built that way.
He is awaiting the results of the congressional investigation into “Mr” Chris Bailey’s weather blog. His brother granted him temporary rights to Mr Bailey’s blog. We all should be so thankful.
0.2″ of rain is now considered a soaker at this moment in history.
I am going to trick myself into thinking that”The Gla$$ is Half Full.”
From PC Magazine…
Internet troll
“An individual who posts false accusations or inflammatory remarks on social media to promote a cause or to har@$$ someone. (sic) The anonymity of such venues enables people to say things they would not say in person, and they often like to ratchet up emotions to generate strong reactions. See patent troll, flame war, trolling and cyberSLAPP.”
Here is another brief article…

Just remember, trolls come and go. There are a lot of trolls in this forum, whether you want to admit it or not. Some were worse than others, and we are thankful their comments are no longer welcomed by CB or the forum moderator.
On my blog, I have zero tolerance for ones I consider trolls, and I will block them in a New York minute.
Nearly a 40 degree rise in temps for my area today
When I first came on it was pure fun blog and now we got some people want to bicker about other people comments. This is not this blog is for. If you don’t like other people’s comments it’s best keep it to yourself and move on. I can see why we don’t hear from our usual bloggers that used to be on hear because that what made this blog interesting. CB does a great job of giving us the daily weather report and thank you air for all you do.
Temperature around 80 degrees and climbing after a morning low of 49 degrees in my backyard.
Schroeders real name is Bill Meck…. ROFL
Hopes the rain visits WKY.. .dry and dusty out there!
Let’s just go ahead and call this “great shot of rain” another dud. Outside of a few showers tonight, most locations look to stay dry. The best chance for more significant rain is over far western and southern KY. When you’re in a worsening drought, never count on these weak systems producing much, if anything.
More likely than not, we need a powerhouse cold front with a rash of severe weather to go with it. Not what we need per se, but it might be the only thing to help us right now–outside of a low chance of a tropical threat.
