Good afternoon, everyone. Showers are rolling across the region today, kicking off a soggy setup for the next few days. This action comes in waves and may end as a brief period of winter weather later Saturday and Saturday night.
As you know, my time is limited today because of our winter weather forecast show on WKYT. Again, stalk my twitter feed this afternoon and good things may come your way. 🙂
Back to the showers. They’re rolling from west to east…
Heavy rain develops overnight and early Friday, but may take a little break late in the day into the evening. Temps will be chilly during this time.
The next low should roll right on top of eastern Kentucky late Friday night into Saturday. That will have a healthy temp gradient from one side of it to the other. Rain will be noted and winds will gust up. As the low goes by and the upper low spins over us, temps drop and that could lead to a period of mixed precipitation or a few flakes. Again, I don’t expect anything to really come from this other than maybe ‘hey, I see some snow’ .
For some strange reason the NAM lost this low and that’s weird cause it is usually too far west and too strong with systems like this. The GFS still has it…
The ICON has it too…
The system to kick off Thanksgiving week continues to trend farther east on the GFS…
I will try to update again today, but no promises. Make it a good one and take care.
could you please put the winter forecast on your blog for people that on’t live within the WKYT television coverage area such as huntington, wva……would love to see it but i have to work and i can not even watch it on line.
that should have read “don’t”….sorry for the typo.
To Mike S.
In the earlier post I thought you were talking about what me and Schroder we talking about. I did not read it right. I thought you were making fun of me and Schroder. So I apologize for my mistake.
Hi I live in southern Indiana and just now got to post on here. Been watching for years. I love this post and Chris is the best reliable person I go to. Looking forward for snow this year. I also cannot get the station and would love to see the winter forecast!
Steve, do you by chance have “ROKU”? It’s on there, you may just have to search for/add the channel. Also, too, if you’re near a computer, there’s usually a live feed of the news on their site when the news is on. We used to get WKYT on our local cable here, but now with DISH I have to rely on either/or one of these. There’s also an app on the phone, but I despise my phone, soooo…lol! Hope you can find a way to watch!
Ditto on the posting of the winter weather forecast. I also do not live in the viewing area but follow you every day. Any chance of at least the Cliff Notes version? Thanks for your blog! It is great!
The rain is under performing today that’s for sure!
Double ditto on posting something about the Winter forecast. You have many followers from your time on WSAZ. If you could, it would be very appreciated!

I used to live in Garrard County years ago. Still follow you on Twitter. Wish you covered AR.
I like the winter forecast overall. Just waiting for all the “hype” and “entertainment” gibberish.
As usual, you only pick out what sounds good to you. Let me read a direct quote for you from CB’s post from the second paragraph, words 12-15 “winter weather forecast SHOW”.
Any show I watch, I expect to be entertained. There’s nothing wrong with presenting weather in an entertaining way. If you take it too seriously, well then, you might be disappointed. But, it sounds like you liked the show; therefore, you must have been entertained.
As usual, you are wrong. But ok, boomer.
