Good evening, folks. Here’s hoping your travels are safe as we head into Thanksgiving Day. We continue to focus on a big storm system for the weekend, but we do have a little action coming in here late Thanksgiving and into Black Friday.

The Thanksgiving setup is a chilly one as clouds increase. There’s the chance for a few showers in the west and southwest before the day is finished.

A few more showers then move in late Friday into Friday evening. Those may impact some of your shopping plans.

As far as the main show this weekend, my thoughts are the same. Here’s a little breakdown:

  • Rounds of rain roll across the state on Saturday as a few thunderstorms join the mix. That continues into Saturday night.
  • Temps start out on a chilly note before turning milder through Saturday night.
  • Winds will also be gusty and could top out around 40mph.
  • As the front moves through, a nice dry slot will be with us on Sunday. That means some sun early and temps that crash from northwest to southeast.
  • Rain and snow develop Sunday evening with light snow giving way to snow showers by Monday. Light accumulations are a good bet across the central and east.

The Euro is coming around to what the Canadian is selling…

Here’s the snow map from that run…

The Canadian is beefier…

Then there’s the GFS…

The model just can’t slow things down and has no idea which low to focus on along the east coast. That means it doesn’t deepen the trough enough, so you’re not getting enough cold air behind it….

Even the ICON can see things clearer…

I’ll see you guys later tonight. Until then, make it a good one and take care.
