Good Friday, everyone. As the shopping world goes crazy today, we are turning our attention toward another big ticket storm system rolling our way for the weekend. This is going to being a lot of different weather at us, with everything from thunderstorms to snow possible.

Before that system full arrives, it’s going to throw clouds and some rain at us today. Temps will continue to run seasonally chilly with showers developing from west to east from late afternoon into the evening. Here are your trackers to start things out…

Let’s give you a little breakdown of how I expect the rest of the weekend to play out…

  • Occasional rain is likely from tonight through Saturday night. Some thunder and lightning could join the party from time to time.
  • Rainfall totals of 1″-2″ will be possible.
  • Temps will be all over the place on Saturday, but the trend will be to go from chilly early in the day, to milder in the evening. Highs may occur a little before midnight.
  • Winds will be a big player this weekend and could top 40mph or a little higher.
  • Sunday will be an interesting day as high temps come very early in the morning. We may even see a period of sunshine. Once into the afternoon, temps crash and clouds increase from northwest to southeast.
  • Rain and snow will quickly develop by evening and then switch to wet snow Sunday night. As our winds turn northwesterly on Monday, snow showers could be fairly widespread across the central and east.
  • Light snow accumulations are a good bet during this time.

The NAM only goes through Monday morning at 7am, but continues to show what I’m talking about…

This is another big wind maker and could produce 40mph+ winds…

Here’s the snow map from that run…

This continues to match what the Canadian has been saying for days and days now. The latest run is no different…

The ICON continues to see the potential for some light accumulating snows…

The GFS is still too progressive with the whole setup and that impacts the thermal profile. Still, the model is beginning to see some snow…

I will have updates later today, so check back. Have a good one and take care.
