Good Saturday, folks. It’s another nasty day across the Commonwealth, but it’s not just rain we are tracking. A little taste of winter weather is blowing in today as the rain ends as a period of snow. This won’t amount to much, so let’s simma down. 🙂 Another taste of winter rolls in by Tuesday, but that’s likely to be followed up by another big time rain maker.

Low pressure is wrapping up to our northeast today, pulling down colder air behind it. This air is marginally cold enough for wet snows to fly through the evening, but we should manage to get a few decent snow bands to show up. Most of what falls will melt, however I can’t rule out some slush showing up on elevated surfaces this evening. The best chance is across the mountains of southeastern Kentucky.

Here are your Saturday radars…

Sunday’s weather looks really good and that lasts into early Monday. Another system brings rain and some snow in here Monday night into Tuesday, but I’m really not that impressed by the winter weather potential with this, at the moment.

I am overly impressed with the pattern behind this, through.  A deep trough hangs across the western part of the country as we see a big ridge off the east coast…

That should put our region into a very active setup for heavy rains and even some strong storms from late next week into the following week.

If we just look at the rainfall numbers through next weekend, we find the potential for a lot of water…
