Good Friday and Happy Valentine’s Day. Arctic air continues to spill into the region today, bringing some of the coldest temps of the winter. Some folks are even seeing a few flakes to begin the day, but it’s all eyes on a much better looking and feeling weekend.

Temps this morning are in the teens for many with a wind chill dropping into the singles. With a cold northwesterly wind, a few flurries or snow showers are possible across central and eastern Kentucky early on. Light accumulations will be possible in a few spots and could even create slick travel on a local scale…

Temps this afternoon only reach the upper 20s to middle 30s.

After another frigid start on Saturday, temps rebound into the mid and upper 40s for many with dry weather. This dry weather rolls into Sunday as temps hit the 50s. There’s a small chance for an evening shower showing up on Sunday, so keep that in mind.

The mainly dry weekend is good news because we are still dealing with Flood Warnings for many of the rivers…

The weekend continues to look dry with a mix of clouds and some sun. Highs on Saturday reach the 40s and could flirt with 50 after a frigid start. Sunday finds temps making a run into the 50-55 degree range.

The setup for next week continues to have a somewhat interesting look to it. Another cold front drops in here from the northwest by Tuesday. Ahead of this, temps may spike toward the low 60s with a major temp crash coming behind it. Rain and a few thunderstorms will be with us ahead of the front from Monday night into Tuesday. Much colder air comes in behind that and we could see a little winter weather.

The GFS shoots a southern system eastward…

That’s something to watch for, but it’s not something that’s a certainty by any stretch of the imagination.

Have a great Valentine’s Day and take care.
