Good Thursday to all my fellow weather weenies. Our weather pattern is heading into one that looks more Like January than September. That doesn’t mean we are going to get January like temps, but it does mean some big time chilly shots of air are on the way for the rest of the month.

The 80s we see out there today may be the last we see for a long while. Highs will hit the low 80s for central and eastern Kentucky with mid 80s across the west. Skies will be partly sunny and there is a slight chance for a pop up shower across the western half.

A cold front sweeps in on Friday and will cause clouds to increase and will also spawn an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Temps Friday will be tricky because of the timing of the front. It looks like the east could make a run toward 80 while the central and west hangs in the low and mid 70s.

Winds will pick up as the cool air kicks in and drops our Saturday morning temps into the high 40s and low 50s. Saturday’s weather looks pretty good with highs in the 70s under partly sunny skies.

Things begin to change by Sunday as moisture increases from the south. This will cause scattered showers and storms to increase and that action will try to become widespread by Monday and Tuesday. All of this is ahead of a big plunge of chilly air moving in late Tuesday into Wednesday. The European Model shows the surge…

That’s a heck of a blast of chilly temps and should give us 60s for highs by Wednesday. Lows may threaten to hit the upper 30s by this time and the GFS is on board with that…

Will we actually hit the upper 30s? We have to wait and see… but it’s an outside possibility. The one thing I am fairly certain of is that the chilly shots of air keep dropping in over the next few weeks. The GFS 500mb pattern shows the massive dips in the jet stream…

You might want to go ahead and find the cool weather clothes and have them ready to go a little early this year. πŸ˜‰ Have a terrific Thursday and take care.
