Good Sunday, friends. A couple of showers and thunderstorms are on the move today as we get set to wrap up the first weekend of April. This is a sign of things to come for the next several days as temps stay pretty darn nice. That may change quickly late next week into next weekend. There’s some ugly trying to show up.

Temps out there today are a little cooler in the north compared to everywhere else. A shower or storm may also show up…

The Monday through Wednesday time period continues to feature very warm conditions with readings that can, at some point, make a run at 80. A few storms will also be around and a couple could be on the strong side.

As our cold front moves through Thursday, temps drop to below normal. That could bring frost and freezing conditions into the weekend. This would also be followed up by another shot of cold into early the following week…

The pattern is going to try and throw some additional cold shots at us through the middle of the month. I mentioned in my last post how snowflakes have been known to show up before in April. The Ensembles say there’s an outside chance of that happening this year…

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

If we look much farther down the road, we find the European Model Weeklies showing a return of a very wet pattern, but it comes with temps averaging closer to normal.

Here are the rainfall anomalies from mid April through mid May…

That, obviously, argues for a very stormy setup and it likely means a pretty active heart of the severe weather season.

The overall temperature pattern for the same time averages near normal…

All that colder than normal air in the plains states also argues for an active storm season around here.

Have a great day and take care.
