Good Friday everyone. We’ve made it through another week and we have another late October feeling weekend waiting on us here in the bluegrass state. Temps this week have been running way below normal and the air moving in this weekend is even colder. This cold air has the potential to produce some, at least, patchy frost. Looks like a  Green Thumb Alert is needed early this fall season.

We have a couple of fronts that will work across the state to start the weekend. The first arrives later this evening and overnight and will kick off some scattered showers and storms later today. The best threat for the scattered action will be in the west and the north. Hit the radar tab up top to track whatever cranks up. Winds will be rather gusty today as temps hit the mid and upper 70s ahead of this boundary.

The second front is the one that has the big push of chilly air behind it. This bad boy arrives on Saturday and may have just enough juice to kick off a shower or two. Winds are really going to crank as the front passes. Early day temps in the low 70s will crash through the 50s during the evening. By Sunday morning, many areas may be dropping into the mid and upper 30s.

Temps like that will give us a real chance for patchy frost for both Sunday and Monday mornings. Highs both days will be well below normal with readings only in the low and mid 60s.

Temps will slowly recover toward the low 70s by Tuesday as some warmer air fights in from the west. The jet stream wants to buckle again by the middle of the week with the core of that shot of air just to our north and east. That may put us in an area of unsettled weather…

Between now and then… it’s Halloween weather about 6 weeks early. Enjoy your Friday and take care.
