Good Sunday, everyone. We have a cold front pushing into the region today, bringing the potential for strong to severe storms. This system zips through with two more on the way for the week ahead as we head back into a much colder than normal pattern late next week into the weekend.

Scattered storms go up early today with a complex of storms developing this afternoon and evening. This drops in from north to south and intensifies the farther south it gets because this is an area that may hit the 80s with more instability available. This leads to the potential for damaging winds and large hail.

Here’s the current Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

In addition to the severe threat, these storms may also produce enough rain to cause local flash flooding issues.

The storms end today, leaving us with a pretty good Monday. Highs reach the upper 60s and low 70s as clouds thicken from the west. That’s where our next system moves in here with more showers and storms Monday evening in the west. That action overspreads the state through early Tuesday with a little bit of ugly coming in behind that for the middle of the week…

This looks to set us up for another ugly weather maker by Friday. This one actually looks more like a cold season system that one in the month of May…

Temps behind that may set record lows next weekend…

For perspective, Lexington has only hit the 20s twice in May and records go back to the 1870s.

Green thumbs could be in a world of hurt!

I will update as needed so check back. I leave you with your Sunday storm tracking toys…
