Good Saturday, everybody. It’s a seasonal brand of steamy air invading the bluegrass state for the weekend, but the wheels are already turning for a cooler pattern settling in for the week ahead. This change will lead to an increased threat for showers and thunderstorms and that looks like a sign of things to come for the rest of June.

Highs today are into the the mid and upper 80s for many with the usual suspects hitting 90ish. Humidity levels will be up and that will add to the sweat factor. Isolated showers and storms will also blow up during the afternoon and evening.

Here are your storm tracking toys…

Father’s Day looks equally steamy, but with better coverage of the showers and storms going up. This kicks off a very stormy setup into the first half of next week. That’s when another cold front approaches from the northwest…

A few strong storms and heavy rains are a good bet in this type of a setup. That will also usher in much cooler air for the middle and end of next week. Check out the deep trough pushing that front through and another trough dropping in behind it…

The overall setup continues to skew stormier than normal through the rest of the month. The GFS rainfall anomalies shows what I’m talking about…

That’s a familiar trend, isn’t it?

Have a great start to the weekend and take care.
