Good Tuesday afternoon to one and all. The pic from above is one of many from the heavy snow that slammed parts of eastern Kentucky this morning with more than a foot in some spots. I am VERY happy with the snowfall map I put out a few days ago.  I think som of you need to be reminded that it’s OCTOBER! Do you know how rare flakes are this early in the season, let alone a snowstorm.

Thousands remain without power because of the heavy snow and the wind gusts that topped out near 50mph in a few locations. I don’t recall ever having schools calling off because of snow in October. We had approximately 20 school districts cancel classes this morning. Wow!

I put snow in my 7 day forecast one week ago. I got calls telling me I was wrong because no one else was forecasting the chance of snow. Those calls came all the way through Friday so I’m assuming I was still the only one that had it in the forecast. Think they will call back tonight?  Haters. 🙂

Superstorm Sandy continues to slowly spin across areas just to our east and continues to have a major impact on our weather here in Kentucky. Rain and mixed rain and snow will continue to fly across central and eastern Kentucky tonight. Another slushy accumulation will be possible in some spots.

Halloween will feature scattered rain showers with a snowflake mixing in across the north and east. Temps will run in the upper 30s and low 40s.

A Full update comes your way later tonight. Enjoy the evening and take care.
