A Big Change By Monday

Good Saturday to one and all. We’re basking in the warmth of an awesome weather weekend here in the bluegrass state. Temps flirting with 70 degrees mark the warmest air we’ve seen in a while and may be the warmest air we see for a very long time. Enjoy it… a massive temp drop is on the way Monday.

There isn’t a whole lot I can say about today and Sunday… just enjoy it.

A strong cold front blows across the state from west to east Monday and this boundary means business. Widespread showers and a rumble of thunder will accompany this front as it sweeps eastward. The big news will be the rapid drop in temps. Let the NAM temp forecast do the talking…

Throw in winds gusting to 30mph and we may be talking about a wind chill in the upper 20s by late day. The threat for a flurry will be with us late Monday afternoon into the evening as the cold air catches the back edge of the shower shield.

Tuesday will be a cold day as the sun returns. Readings will be in the low and mid 20s to start with afternoon highs not too far from 40. Seasonally chilly temps will then be noted for the middle and end of next week with upper 40s and lower 50s.

This will take us toward a much more complicated weather pattern taking shape from next weekend into Thanksgiving week. Many of the models are showing the possibility of another wild setup across the eastern part of the country. Check out the big blocking high showing up across southeastern Canada…

That’s a setup that can lead to another big storm along the east coast with a deep cut off low pressure spinning across our region. That’s exactly what the European Model shows early Thanksgiving week…

The new Canadian Model features a similar solution…

IF this pattern does materialize… it could get ugly once again along the east coast and that could have a big impact on our holiday week here in Kentucky.

Let’s hope that all changes, but this is another signal mother nature isn’t messing around this year and will take any and every chance to go to the extreme.

Have a great Saturday and take care.

Thanks, Chris. Glad I switched out to the winter duds. Think I am going to be needing them. Your blog has been especially helpful this week, as we had a death in the family, and by reading the blog, we knew how to dress.. You are appreciated more than you know. Have a great Saturday, everyone.

I am in hopes of snow the week of Thanksgiving. That would make a beautiful holiday. Roads clear and ground covered.

Mother Nature needs to lay off the east coast and bring a juicy low up the spine of the Apps with a heavy snow for OUR part of the world!

Well who felt the Earthquake my house shook 10 seconds in Pikeville?

Google 4.4 magnitude earthquake, there has been 3-4 in the last few days with that specific magnitude, and like 30 since September. Lol, that is weird.
