Good Thursday and Happy Thanksgiving.  Let me start out by saying thanks for everything you’ve done for me over the past year. We have a fantastic weather family here on the blog and I appreciate all the support on my return to WKYT. If I had a table big enough, we would all be sitting down to a big dinner today. Thanks for everything.

Since it’s a holiday, let’s get straight into it.

A strong cold front will sweep across the state early Friday and this will have a big impact on holiday shoppers. A gusty band of showers will be along and behind this front, so make sure you have the umbrellas with you. Temps will warm into the upper 40s to near 50 early in the day before falling quickly late. You can see that nicely on the NAM…

Saturday’s temps will be in the upper 30s for most of the state and a few snow flurries are possible… especially north and east.

This brings us to the storm system heading our way early next week. The pattern is transitioning toward a wintry one as we roll into December and these situations always give the models fits. The GFS runs 4 times a day and gives you 4 different solutions, so you simply can’t trust any one run of it.

The GFS Ensembles Mean has been a bit more consistent and shows a bit more of a wintry look…

The latest European Model is even farther south with that low and takes it across almost due eastward across Tennessee.

The Canadian Model stands in contrast to the weaker low solution from above and wraps up a heck of a storm…

All of the above model maps (and even the not shown GFS) produce a rain to snow situation across our part of the world. That’s about all I can tell you right now… this looks like a rain ending as snow setup. I will have another update later today to detail that out a bit more.

Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving and take care.
