Good Friday to one and all. This is no ordinary Friday, it’s Black Friday and that means millions of people flood the malls and local businesses looking for those early bird savings. While the businesses are slashing prices, I’m slashing temps on this big day.

A stout cold front pushes across the state early today. This boundary will have a gusty band of showers along and ahead of it. The good news is the rain won’t last very long as things dry out this afternoon from west to east. That’s when the cold air takes over and carries us through the weekend.

Temps start today in the 50s then fall through the 40s and into the upper 30s by sundown. The drop continues during the evening with upper 20s by midnight as readings head toward the low and mid 20s by Saturday morning. Thermometers will only rebound into the upper 30s for highs Saturday afternoon as winds make it feel even colder. A couple of snow flurries will be possible with the greatest chance in the north and east.

After another chilly day on Sunday, our attention turns toward a developing storm system moving our way early next week. A cold rain will overspread the region late Monday as the low gathers steam to our southwest. This low should track right on top of us Tuesday morning and then off to our northeast by the evening. The track map I put out a few days ago looks pretty good right now.

This scenario continues to look like a rain to snow situation Tuesday afternoon and evening. We now have the GFS on board with this transition:

The model still isn’t handling everything properly, but then again, no model is right now. The Canadian continues to be the most wound up with the storm and offers a heavier burst of some snow Tuesday night and Wednesday morning…

The NOGAPS is similar to the Canadian with a stronger system than the GFS shows. There is something that has me scratching my head and that’s the European Model. This model has been showing a sheared out system scooting to our south. The new run has all but lost this storm and it’s rare you see the European this out of step.

I will try to update again later today. Have a great Friday and take care.
