Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to drop by to show off some maps that pretty much tell the story of out major pattern change ahead. Check out the total pattern reversal being shown by the European Model 500mb Height Anomalies:
What does all that mean? Simply put… winter is on the way and it could turn harsh for much of the country for the middle and end of the month.
Have a great rest of your Sunday and take care.
My birthday (12-12) looks to be bitter.
And hopefully snowy! The 12th is my Birthday as well.
mine is the 10th so we all cld get a great birthday present!!!!!!
Maybe the Louisville game will get called off due to snow. Friendly tie and give half a game each?? Just dreamin’ in a dreamin’ kind of world. Ricky P is probably grinning wider everyday until the 29th.
Sorry, I just watched the movie “The Grey”. Kind of depressing, that and our mere-mortal Cats. As long as we do not see ice, I am fine with whatever.
Snow sounds good! Ice sounds bad! I need to visit family in Middle Tennessee over the Holidays.
Yes, definitely no ice!
During this Christmas/New Year period, my better half and I plan to visit relatives in Chattanooga/Cleveland TN area, Bowling Green KY and Louisville. That is, if the weather cooperates.
Things lucked out with holiday travel in Dec 2010; much of KY and TN got just enough snowcover for a white Christmas but not enough to overly hinder highways and airports. A huge snowstorm a few weeks later – 16 inches along the TN/Alabama border, Atlanta’s crippling snow/ice event – waited until after the new year when most were back home again.
I hope it is not really bad! I’ve got plans to head to Florida right after Christmas! What do you think Chris, will I be making the trip? A little snow is ok but ice or a lot of snow does not sound good!
Fingers crossed that it all works out! Bring it ON!
So, what temp range do these maps represent? How cold are we talkin’?
could you explain what color equals what type of weather.
Thanks for the blog Chris. I love reading it.
Hope you’re right, about next week, but I’m not holding my breath. Last year there was a lot of…look at next week….look at next week….and it was just like this winter so far.
Not the weatherman’s fault for sure, but just saying.
Does that show a low pressure system moving south of us between Monday and Tuesday?!?!?! I sure hope so!
it seems today’s rain kinda puttered out not really anything in western KY and nothing in Southern KY either
it poured here from abt 1pm and was still raining when i went to bed at 11pm, had several hard downpours!
