Good Tuesday evening to my weather friends. I promised to drop by for an update and I am a weatherdude of my word… mostly. 😉 Here we go.

A weak system moves in on Wednesday with a shot of some light rain and light snow… especially in the south and east. Southeastern Ky has a shot at a small accumulation in the highest elevations. MUCH colder air will then fill in here Wednesday night and Thursday with lows in the upper teens and low 20s with highs in the 30s. Yep… that’s the first FULL day of spring.

Our focus will then turn toward two storm systems that may impact our weather. There are questions marks with both of these, but both may have a wintry aspect to them. The first arrives in western Kentucky by Friday and then tries to work eastward across the state into Saturday. The NAM is very aggressive in bringing snow and rain into our region…

Here’s the NAM Snowfall Map for that same period…

NAM 3

Well… that’s interesting. The GFS does NOT show that setup and is slower with the storm and is also a little warmer. The GFS then wraps up a storm on Sunday to our west and northwest and would give us thunderstorms that would transition to snow showers by Monday.

The European Model has a different look…Euro 3

Either way… it’s going to get super cold again early next week and that lasts for most of the week. Winter just will not end!

Enjoy the evening and take care.
