Good Tuesday to one and all. A serious case of spring fever is just days away from becoming a full blown epidemic here in the bluegrass state. Our long, cold winter is about to come to an end as we break out into a much warmer pattern. Of course, this goes along with the thoughts found on the blog since back in late January and early February.
Temps today will run much colder than normal. Readings will be in the 20s to start and 40s to end. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny and that’s a trend that takes us into Wednesday. 20s will be common in the morning with upper 40s and low 50s by the afternoon.
Thursday and Thursday night will find a low pressure working eastward across the deep south. This will have an inverted trough that can bring some chilly showers into the region. The GFS is the most adamant about this…
The European Model is much farther south with the moisture field, but I do think some showers sneak in here. Where it rains… temps will be in the 40s. 50s will be noted outside of the rain.
The opening day of the spring meet at Keeneland looks dry with temps in the 50s.
MUCH milder air surges in for the weekend and highs may hit 70 by Sunday. That’s the start of a warm pattern for next week that may find an 80 degree temps around here. The pattern is also taking on the stormy look we’ve been yapping about. While spring fights in from the south… the northern part of the country stays cold…That can lead to rounds of thunderstorms developing at some point for the middle and end of next week.
Make it a great Tuesday and take care
Warm sounds good! 23.7 here in Lawrenceburg at 0700. Looks to be just shy of a record low (record is 21 in Frankfort, the closest reporting station to here).
Yesterday I thought I might attempt an Aprils fools joke. It was going to read did you see the Euro and the GFS model. Both of them are predicting a snowstorm next week.
Then I realize that there is nobody on here that I can fool.
Mid 20s on April 2nd Uggg! Keeneland trip Friday, come on weather lets get this warmer stuff in here!!!
That’s it! We are at rock bottom for the rest of the season! We just need to survive today and it’s all uphill from this point on! If you look at 7-day forecast its all up now! I’m definitely ready for spring now! BRING IT ON!
YAY! Finally some warmer weather! Looking forward to it, Chris, as I know you and everyone else is as well. Hope to see a few days of dry, sunny weather in between the rainy ones. Don’t want storms, by any means, but, well, that is part of springtime. Just hope we HAVE spring weather, instead of going straight to summer. I did notice this morning that the trees that had stopped in about half-bud have started coming on out again. Hope that means spring is coming to stay.. Have a great Tuesday, everyone!
Sorry Coffeelady, but I really believe we are going to go from winter temps to summer temps. I love this site and enjoy Chris’s predictions, but this has the set up fpr going to summer, which I don’t mind at all.
Show us your proof then if you think you are so sure of yourself.
Why is it that when ky needs a good kiss of cold air from Canada in January or February for a nice big snow storm it rarely happens but in April we get a direct line from northern Canada to hammer us?
OK last rant for the winter, Lets go spring 🙂
Not sure if Chris had a tweet that mentioned it today, but we set a record low this morning at CVG. The new low is 22 breaking the old record of 23 set back in 1961. I am sure a few are thinking why couldn’t we set a record low when it is MINUS 22. 😉
