Good Monday and welcome to a familiar week of weather. The pattern for the next several days will look and feel a whole lot like what we had last week here in the bluegrass state. Warm and windy, scattered storms and a severe weather threat followed by a shot of chilly air. Got it.
Temps today will range from the mid and upper 70s to around 80 in the far west and southwest. A mix of sun and clouds could lead to an isolated shower or thunderstorm. The threat for a few boomers will increase a bit in the coming days.
Tuesday into Wednesday will see readings climb into the upper 70s and low 80s for highs. Moisture will increase and that may aid in the development of some of the scattered storms.
A storm across the Rockies will work across the plains and into the Great Lakes by the end of the week. That will drag a cold front across the state Thursday night and early Friday and that may spawn severe weather around here. Check out the massive temp plunge coming in behind the front…
The GFS Ensembles Temperature Anomaly Forecast shows the extreme change…
The cold air across North America refuses to go quietly into the night and will likely throw a few more jabs at us into May.
Make it a great Monday and take care.
Hopefully that will change before Friday for the hillbillies. We are crossing our “fangers”
I think this week’s severe potential may be higher than last week’s here in Kentucky. Some timing issues regarding storms late this week need to be worked out to determine where the strongest ones could set up.
I think Mother Nature hates Kentucky this is the worst weather state
Thanks Chris.
Dang, well it is April, sure hope Derby weekend is nice!
These stubborn clouds are getting old, sunshine is hard to come by lately, Mother Nature we need some vitamin D !!
Thanks, Chris. do not relish severe weather, especially in the night, but, I have a NOAA weather radio and Kentucky Weather Center on Twitter, so I will be well warned! Do wish we could get some stable temps in here though, instead of going from hot to cold and back and forth between winter and summer. Of course, dogwoods are blooming, and that usually means a spell of cool or cold weather. Ah well, at some point it will even out, hopefully. Thanks for all yo udo Chris. Have a great Monday, everyone.
SPC has put Kentucky in a SLIGHT risk of Severe thunderstorms for tomorrow!
Would rather see Spring cool, showery, and cloudy and keep the severe weather at bay. For my money, Saturday was an awesome day. Sunny skies, temps in the 60’s, and low humidity. Would like to see more of those days the next six weeks.
