Tornado watches are now being issued across the region. A wicked severe weather outbreak is developing across the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes. Tornadoes and widespread damaging winds are likely.
The TORNADO WATCH for northern Kentucky goes until 8pm and is a PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Watch. Here’s a look at the counties included and the latest warnings…
A TORNADO WATCH has also been issued until 7pm central time for western Kentucky. Here’s a look…

Stay safe and take care.
GREAT WEBSITE!
A friend from California sent it to me last night.
Thank you!
With the rain still here will that help us any in central Ky.?
Hopefully this is the last severe weather event of the year, bring on the snow after this please!
While some of us could do without the snow, that’s still better than severe wx.
Unfortunately, Kentucky has on rare occasions seen F4 tornadoes even in January. January 2012 had one and maybe two (?) outbreaks in KY which included at least one EF2.
Dr.Greg Forbes raised the Tor Con to 6 in Kentucky.
Chris’ tweet about additional Watches may be coming soon for the rest of us.
Should be a Tornado Watch…PDS?? Can’t say. Highest chances for strong, long-track tornadoes exist right where SPC has outlined in Indiana.
Nevertheless, tornado threat and damaging wind threat are there for all of us.
I think we will definitely see a watch no doubt about that. Storms mean business in Illinois. Already several reports of damage in Central Illinois.
What about morgan co doyou think chris we will be under a tornado watch?
Marsha, still a bit early to know. But by the time the storms get to your area, the tornadic threat may be somewhat reduced based on what the Storm Prediction Center is showing. More of a strong destructive straight-line wind threat, but an isolated twister can’t be ruled out.
There may likely be some kind of watch for your area, but whether a severe t-storm watch or low-end tornado watch remains to be seen. Hang in.
This morning’s AFD (discussion) over at the NWS Jackson site was pretty underwhelming. Hardly mention of any severe weather for southeast and eastern KY. They mentioned very windy conditions, but little chance for storms. Probably a major event for west KY, the Great lakes and upper Oho Valley, but not much here in the eastern part of the state.
It the pace these storms are moving do you think they will be in central ky before 7 or 8 ?
Heads up, Paducah KY!!! Tornado on the ground near area where Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky intersect. This tornadic supercell headed in general direction of Paducah.
Pray people!!!
Just minutes ago, tornado reported on the ground near La Center, KY. Kevil KY is next, then Paducah including the airport.
NWS Paducah is located next to Paducah airport so there’s chance NWS staff there may have to seek shelter and hand off responsibilities to another NWS office.
Kevil reports barn destroyed
Oscar reports barn destroyed
Kevil reports heavy damage to another barn
Tornado in Paducah…
Storm Prediction Center very likely to issue yet another new Tornado Watch for central KY and north-central TN. Lexington, Louisville, Bowling Green and Nashville could be included.
That Tornado Watch is now out. It’s for southern Indiana and central parts of KY including Frankfort, Louisville and Bowling Green. However Lexington KY and Nashville TN are not under any watch, at least for the moment.
Is it still on track for 8 9 o’clock for central ky.?
It’s going to be hit and miss. The line is very broken. Still waiting to see if it congeals into a solid line. It will definitely be before 8 or 9. Storms already in Western Kentucky.
I am praying they weaken before they get to mercer county.
Well there’s still THICK overcast………Sure this will help limiting severe when it moves this way. I hope so!!!
I sure hope so !!!
