Winter Weather Advisory

Good evening, folks. A Winter Weather Advisory is now out for much of the state overnight into Friday. This is for rounds of snow that will sweep across the state during this time. Here’s a look at the Advisory…

SPECIAL 2This isn’t a lot of snow, but it could add up to an inch or two for some areas. Keep in mind, this won’t come all at once, but could cause slick spots to deliver on area roads. That’s especially true late tonight and Friday.

The next clipper moves in late Saturday with another round of light snow. I have no changes on the medium and long range pattern… there’s a lot of harsh winter weather coming for much of the country.

Let’s get back to tracking the stuff we have out there this evening…

Is any of the precip actually hitting the ground? Particularly in the southern half of the state.

    • WeatherDadof2 says:

Ft. Knox and Frankfort reporting snow at 7pm. Looks like bands in southern Ky should have enough juice to produce.

  2. WeatherDadof2 says:

Looks like snow moving into London area. Hoping for wet bulbing with our low dew points. Roads still pretty cold, as seen by many icy patches this morning. Hoping for at least a solid inch or so by morning. Have a safe night, all.

  3. Bobby says:

    Eastern Kentucky not getting anything?

  4. Jim says:

None of the snow that came through Grayson in Carter County earlier actually hit the ground. Maybe the next round will deliver a little.

  5. John says:

Nothing in Casey Co. even though radar is showing snow. :(

  6. Jp jones says:

Ridiculous……”all this wont hit at once” and we are talking about less than an inch?!?!?! I think Ive figured something out; its not that these storms are under-producing. Its that we are misreading these forecasters who talk about big events. A big event now IS an ankle-biter. I just got back from Tates Creek Kroger and you would think by looking at the crowd that it was gonna snow a foot tonight. Snow advisories on all the channels and we arent even getting any precip!!! I used to get upset now i think its just amusing….

  7. retro fetch says:

decent little snow now in Lextown. nothing and then we looked up and the walks and street are covered!

  8. SpaceGhost says:

The tri-state dome reigns supreme. I love it

  9. sue(Flatwoods,Ky) says:

the radar was light up with Blue earlier and not one flake fell, hopefully we will get something out if this next band coming thru!

  10. teach says:

    Nice snow in Harrison.

  11. troy says:

Another bust in progress. GFS showing less and less snowfall through Tuesday with each run. Radar showing snow here but nothing falling from the sky. Rain moving toward us from the West. Temperature, now at 37 degrees, has been climbing steadily since 3 o’clock this afternoon.

  12. Ben in Lexington says:

About a half inch at my house on the south side of Lexington. Neighborhood streets are covered with the pretty white stuff.

  13. prelude says:

I really think the WWA was not needed in my opinion

  14. Fire says:

Long range charts indicate people are going to get tired of the cold weather. -Beau Dodson

  15. SHAAK says:

Chris is bringing the ban hammer for people talking about their local weather on a weather blog. Nice.

    • Chris Bailey says:

“Another bust in progress” isn’t talking about their local weather. It’s a shot at me.

      • troy says:

I’m sorry if it came off that way, it was not directed at you in any way and if you went back and looked at some of my previous posts, you would see I have staunchly defended you against another poster I will not name in just the past few days. I’m Not So petty as to take “shots” at you because I think your a very talented met “Another bust” is just a general thought because in my area, that is what this entire winter has been to date. Good night.
