Good Saturday, everyone. Ugly is a word I would use to describe the weather across Kentucky today. We have heavy rain, gusty winds and falling temperatures ganging up on us. Old Man Winter tries to get in the mix later this evening into tonight. Yippee!!

Even with this quick-shot of winter… a warm and stormy pattern looks to be setting up for next week.

Let’s talk about the bad before we get into all of that. Rain will be common across the state today with falling temps and gusty winds. Early day temps may hit 60 in southeastern Kentucky with low 40s in the west and north. Cold air pulls in from the northwest during the day and we are likely to see a period of light snow take over this evening into tonight. Areas of central and eastern Kentucky have the best chance of seeing this. Some light accumulations will be possible.

Here’s regional radar to help you out…

Milder and drier air moves in for Sunday. We start in the 20s and end in the 50s with mostly sunny skies. 70 or better is likely early next week with mostly sunny skies Monday and Tuesday. The deeper we get into the weekend, the better the chance we have at seeing rounds of showers and thunderstorms. This type a setup can lead to strong storms…

The models are spitting out the potential for a lot of rain over the next week…

GFS 2 That’s a pattern that looks to persist through the next few weeks as spring tries to finally take over from winter…

I will get you some tracking tools later today. Make it a great one and take care.
