Wednesday Evening Update

Good evening, folks. It’s another old one out there, but spring is going to try to punch back for a few days, before winter flexes more muscle into next week. Again, while we will get some spring days, the overall pattern doesn’t look very much like spring over the next few weeks.

Thursday’s weather looks gorgeous with highs reaching the  50s in many areas, with the 60s in the far west. Enjoy it, because some ugly weather rolls back in on Friday. Temps will be MUCH colder and may not get to 40 in a few spots, with showers rolling through. A touch of sleet can’t be ruled out.

You can see how this system lingers into Saturday on the GFS…

Depending on where the front sets up, this will make for one heck of a tricky temp forecast for Saturday. The differences on the NAM and GFS are obvious…

Regardless of which one wins, temps should turn milder for Sunday and Monday, as another strong storm system targets the region. This may bring thunder and lightning ahead of it, with a quick return to winter behind it…

The pattern for the rest of March can deliver is very active and can deliver everything from snow to strong storms. Yippee.

Enjoy your evening and take care.

Spring Shows Signs Of Life This Weekend

Good Wednesday, everyone. Snow showers and squalls are pulling away from the region early today, leaving us with a little better weather for a few days. Even as the overall pattern for the next few weeks skews toward colder, spring is showing some signs of life this weekend.

Before we get to that, let’s start with what’s going on out there today. Slick roads may start our Wednesday, especially across the eastern half of the state. The flakes will quickly move east around daybreak, but some flurries may still fly in the far east…

Temps out there today will be in the 20s to start and upper 30s and low 40s to end. Temps in the west will be a little milder.

Thursday looks REALLY good with temps hitting the 50s under a mostly sunny sky. Western Kentucky will see the 60s.

The setup from there will be pretty active, with a healthy temperature swing on the way. The system coming in Friday into early Saturday will be a chilly shower maker, and may even begin with a mix…

As that system goes through, it’s actually being pushed by a surge of spring temps for the weekend. We may be able to string together three pretty mild days in a row. Watch how the chilly goes to mild on the GFS…

That’s a setup I originally talked about developing, then I backtracked a little the past day or so, but I’m back on #teamspring. 🙂

Showers and some thunderstorms come in early next week, ahead of a system that tries to bring winter back in here by Tuesday and Wednesday…

Here’s hoping the weekend temps actually pan out before we get back into that ugly pattern.

I will have another update later today. Have a good one and take care.
