Good evening, gang. Our cold front is rolling across western Kentucky and is brining the big change toward a taste of winter for the weekend. Showers and thunderstorms can be on the strong side in the west, but should weaken some as they head east. That said, some of them can tap some very high winds.
Track away…
The new GFS has the cold trying to catch up to the back edge of that rain shield by Saturday morning, and switching some of that over to snow…
That’s an interesting race to watch for in the morning. Temps just above the surface are going to be well below freezing, so flakes will fly at the surface with temps in the mid and upper 30s.
The wrap around snowflakes show up very well on the 4km NAM…
Wind chills will be a big player Saturday night into early Sunday. The NAM has wind chills in the low and mid teens for some…
I will look into next week and beyond with my update later tonight. Enjoy the evening and take care.
A big ice event would be devastating this winter, since we have had very little rain to help strengthen the trees prior to the dormant stage for the season. Sadly we are do for one trend wise and CB seems to be thinking so.

Yeah but when you start talking .50 to 1″ ice accumulations which would be considered a big icing event. I just don’t think it really matters all that much of how much rain we didn’t or did get. I would imagine the devastation would be pretty much the same either way.
What is the summary of CBs forecast for winter? I was driving at 7.
Hell if I know I was out and about myself at 7. I thought you watched by your comment about CB thinking there would be a significant ice event. lol
Nope, saw a snippet of CB’s “bold prediction” on Twitter.
A bunch of small to moderate snows, colder than normal Dec/Jan warmer than normal Feb.
Back to our drive-by snows then. More salt than snow. Yep, seems prime season for an ice event then.
