Good evening, gang. The change to winter is underway from west to east across Kentucky. This is complete with crashing temps and a band of light snow working in. This band of light snow will then give way to snow showers and a few squalls over the next day or so.

Low pressure is working across the state tonight, with cold air and a band of snow coming in behind it. This can put down some slushy accumulations in some areas through early Tuesday. With temps dropping into the 20s, a few slick spots can develop…

A strong northwesterly flow will then kick in tonight through Tuesday night. That should produce a few bands of snow showers and squalls diving in from the northwest. The super hi-res NAM shows a plume of action coming straight off Lake Michigan and into central and eastern Kentucky…

That may especially kick in on Tuesday evening, and those bands can be underplayed a bit by the models.

Highs tomorrow and Wednesday may not get above freezing for some areas. Lows hit the teens Wednesday and Thursday.

This is a far cry from a historic blizzard ready to shutdown the mid-Atlantic states into New England. A general one to two feet of snow will fall with winds gusting near 50mph in that part of the world.

It’s overdone, but it’s fun to look at one of the snowfall forecasts using the Kuchera algorithm…

The cold coming in behind this is going to be absurd for this time of year. We should easily be in the teens for lows Wednesday and Thursday, with the Canadian model still showing near record breaking temps…

Temps recover a bit by the end of the week, but another ugly weather maker moves in late Friday and Saturday. This should have some rain for Friday with some rain and snow on Saturday…

Told ya this was going to be one ugly pattern!

Will it end? The European Model tries to warm us up a bit, but watch the cold try to overwhelm the pattern again next week…

Make it a great day and take care.
